Looks like there is some friction between the US of A and China...apparently Sec. Paulson was working the Chinese to lend us money so we could buy their cheap crap.

But with a recession hitting both countries, will the Chinese step up to the plate and buy our debt at no return?

Seems kind of strange to be borrowing a bunch of money from the Commies but I guess they've got the cash. I wonder if we can off load our exploding hispanic population over there too - what the heck, they work cheap with no benefits.

Maybe we could export enough of those hispanic guys so that they don't become the majority of the US of A by 2042. Who the heck wants to be speaking Spanish all the time?

Whatta conundrum!

No conundrum at all. We should pay back the Chinese for the cheap labor they provided us when they came over here to build our railroads for us dirt cheap by sending all the illegal aliens over there to build their railroads, rickshaws, nukes...whatever at an even cheaper price. See? One hand washes the other.

China, Russia, Saudia Arabia are currently hold some of the largest amounts of US debt. Wall Street crash started when China and Russia stopped buying our debt. They kind of saw themselves and being at the bottom of a ponzi scheme.

China, Russia, Saudia Arabia and Venezuala are in the top ten of countries holding US currency. So they kind of have us by the kneck or nether regions. So one of the things they are worried about is staving off mass trading in US dollars for other currencies.

Won

No problemo man,

we got their stuff they got our paper.
we devalue/revalue our paper , presto we owe them nada.

all that's left now is to see who blinks first.

it's not so much ponzi as a game of chicken now.

"do you feel lucky chinamen" is the operative phrase now.

On a related front, I see GM offering 0 fin today for the suv envoy ,etc. type vehicles they could not sell from 08 and into 09.

Kind of funny that Hanky and Bernie "loaned" them a billion or so yesterday to invest(?) in gmac and also sent a little xmas bonus package to gmac and TODAY we have the suv/big truck 0 finance deal , i expect with nothing down as well.

Seems this was tried in the recent past and while it moved a bunch of vehicles i question it was in the long term interest for the gvt to be making vehicle buying decisions for the avg j6p.

Well at least our dear leader seems to recall that what they did in the recent past worked so well that they should haul it out for another go-round.
thx P bush, thx.

:bang:

it gets funnier all the time.
Now the SEC to show it's tough and on the job drops the hammer on a 23M ponzi scam involving Haitian investors????

Made-off was blowing through this a day for years not to mention the front-running he and his boys had to be doing, which is what they don't want to be hit with.

Talk about all show no go actions.

I am sure this was a gut wrenching action for those in the SEC, no more hanging out with their Haitian friends now!!
 :faint:

Hey gopony - that is pretty scary.

So let me get this straight, we borrowed money from 1 really big Commie country, 1 used to be superpower that we've hated for a century, 1 Arab country that had most of the dudes who hijacked the planes on 9/11 and 1 South American Socialist country that we can't stand.

I'm feeling pretty good about all of that and sooner or later Spanish will be the language of the majority of the people in the US of A. Should be an interesting ride, maybe we can buy houses in gated communities to keep all the undesirables out (?)

I wonder if it is easier to learn Chinese instead learning Spanish? Though I hear that the Chinese have a tough alphabet. At least the Spanish use the same one as we do but put the verbs in the wrong place (or the Americans put the verb in the wrong place). I'm sure we'll work it out with them and the United Nations.

I guess the people of the US of A will need to decide who our overlords are going to be in the future.
