Hey Folks in the Tampa area.

We're going to do a day at the races on Saturday, Jan 3. I know this is short notice but if you can make it out we'll have some fun and pick a few winners. Working on getting us a box but even if we don't score a box there's plenty of room in the upper clubhouse with tables, etc.

PM me if you're interested.

Let's go! Let's hit 'em a lick!!

to Linda up in the clubhouse where the trainers and owners sit, she can set u up, but don't wait till Sat. If you are getting there earlier in the week talk to her then about a box for Sat. Unfortunatley i wull not be able to join you as i will be in Ft Meyers that weekend attending a wedding.

Very nice.Hope my work schedule will allow me to attend.Self-inflicted wounds usually do well for a day or two off, better than fake coughs (boss don't buy 'em)or wicked hangovers(handicapping suffers).I'll see what I can do.Sounds like a fun day at the track.

I actually came out better with the 9 staying up.

Did the stews understand that the inside horse that kept coming out and banging the outside horse was the original winner? It was pretty blatant if you saw the head-on a couple times and they left the result stand.

I agree with you Rich, Never thought the #9 would stay up. Only excuse I could come up with is, Both Jockeys rode like nothing was happening.

Have a great time Monday. { wish I was there.]

All,
Did you ever go to a racetrack and get Royal Treatment? Rich Bauer did a super job of planning and made sure that the details for our group outing were well taken care of!
Upon entering the clubhouse, I went to the Will Call window and when I mentioned Rich Bauer's name, immediately the lady at the window smiled, welcomed me and gave me the day's racing program. Another stop near the Box Seat area and I was escorted, by a pleasant gal named Linda, to where the group was seated. Rich had secured a box on the finish line for our PA participants. After group introductions, a short time later we were greeted by Tampa Down's Vice President and General Manager Peter Berube, who gave us a warm welcome.
Each of us handicapped the horses using our favorite methods but Cj's figures, Dave Schwartz's new HSH version 6 , Allways and Black Magic were often referred to throughout the course of the day! This experience was a terrific opportunity to meet new people and share handicapping approaches.
I want to particularly thank Richard Bauer for planning this well organized program and Tampa Downs for their cordial welcome.

Saratoga SOUTH! pktruckdriver (Patrick) hard2like (Bruce) and Maxspa (Max) made the trip and we enjoyed the day. Very hospitable folks at TBD. What's not to like? And having the 7th race exacta a couple times saved my bacon! BTW the clubhouse parking is free during the road construction. Valet parking is $5. This track is a rare bright spot in today's racing scene.

Rich is a class-act. At the Saratoga PA Tent . Charlie , Joe Prunes and me were playing exotics, We were criticizing each other on our picks in a fun way and losing every race . Just before the last race I said no chicken tonight, just feathers. Rich, laughed and said, I had a pretty good day, I want to invite you guys to the house for a BBQ poolside at the house the PA guys were staying .A few hours later we were at the house and could not find Rich, He was too busy steaming corn-on-the-cob., Baking potato's, cooking delicious steaks. What a meal !!! Red Knave, poured a good Australian wine in our glass that made the steak even more pleasurable. Once you meet Rich, you will never forget him.

It sounds like Tampa Bay Downs helped make it a great day. I am glad they are bucking the trend and increasing their business. I wish I still lived there or was down on vacation so I could have joined you.

Jim: You are absolutely right! The folks at Tampa Bay Downs "get it"! Congratulations to Mr. Berube and Richard Grunder for rolling out the welcome mat to our PA friends, wish I could have been there, and looking forward to meeting Richard Bauer and other PA guys there in the future!:)

Yes Richard was fantastic..

Very class act , Tampa Bay Downs was, even though they would not valet park my big rig, or serve me Lemonade, but that is another story.

All those I met were great guys, and they were a pleasure to spend the day with.

I wish them great success in 2009 , as well as all PA Board memebers, and if lucky enough I will meet more of you at some venue in this great country this year.

Again A Big Thank You to RRBAUER and TBD
