I dont get it. Oh ok .. Sell more booze, more overpriced food, and giving
the players around the world .. time to bet on the races. Don't mind me..it is
Minus 10 degrees here in St Loo tonite and my head hurts. :bang:

After official there should be no more than 20 minutes to post, the modern bettor needs a faster pace or they will wander off to play the slots @ the casino.

It really doesn't take too long to handicap those 5 horse fields!

I know at our track, the horses have to walk from the backstretch to the paddock. They obviously have to wait til the race ahead of them is over to come over, so that takes more than a few minutes. then they have to get settled in and saddled up.

Plus when a race is over the track wants to not only show the prices, but the traditional replay and the head on, and any photos that may have occurred. Plus many players then want to see a full paddock shot of every horse in the paddock. Then there is a post parade and warm up.

Plus the jockeys have to go back to the room afterwards, shower and cool down and hopefully get a couple minutes of rest.

All that being said, i think 22 to 25 minutes is better than 30 though.

Agree. TAke a look at Tampa, I don't think its even 20, maybe 16-18. The card moves right along and with it, it makes the bettor stay more involved in that tracks card instead of shopping around for another tracks race to play inbetween when there is too much time. Tampa management "gets it " , and they have done alot for their business by "paying attention" even with the cheaper stock they have ,than their competition who try to do other things and not concentrate on "core business". Compare them to Gulfstream who have managed or mismanaged their way to make it an unfriendly place for trackers , b;ut don't get me started on that one.

Published posttime for Tampa Bay (http://www.equibase.com/static/entry/TAM122308USA-EQB.html) show 27 to 31 minutes between the races for Tuesday.

They post '18 minutes to post' on the tote board once the race is official but the gap between races may appear smaller as their mutuel department may not request minutes between races as is the common practice at some tracks.

Gotcha ! Different ways of handling the same by different tracks mutual departments. It really seemed shorter to me, but in truth I hadn't done my handicapping homework and was doing it each race which must have made it seem like less time, as I never saw 20 and over on the MTR on screen like FG does . Good catch Stu.

Santa Anita , Del Mar , and Hollywood Park ... when it says 1 minute to post you usually have 5 to 7 minutes to get your bet in . :)

The wait wouldn't be so bad if the tracks around the country were more in sync with eachother, so you could bet on one every 10 minutes or so.
