I run a very simple query out of my database every three months.
Basically, the query asks the question, what would my ROI be if I played every combination for every race for a given wager at a given track for the past three years.
In other words if I boxed All horses in a Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta or Superfecta for every race where that was available at a given track, what would my Return On Investment be?
You have to take into account the inclusion of your money into the pool, your wager's impact on the payoff, the fact you would have a single winning ticket when there is an "All" payoff, any deadheats, etc.
I kind of use it as a rough guideline to determine which tracks/exotic pools may be the most attractive to play into.
Unfortunately, I cannot run this query for multiple race exotics (DD, P3 etc.), because it is not possible to accurately account for scratches (late and early).
Anyway, I'll list the best and worst ROI's in the country (as calculated by this method). If anybody has any interest in the full report, just e-mail me and I'll send it to ya.
As one might imagine, there are some very obscure tracks in here. Statistical anomolies that result from short meets. Some of these tracks don't even run anymore.
