a grade 3 masquerading as a 750K GI, but hey, it's the best thing going this weekend other than football

Top dogs
:5:Pioneer of the Nile is the obvious horse. Baffert will have him razor sharp after the change of hands. He is a nice looking horse with some potential to one day be a classic distance runner.

:4:John Best brings in Alex Foley under the O'Neill barn similar to what he did with Square Eddie. You know this horse will be at a lifetime peak for this sale opportunity. 2 good races and Best thinks he has a sale to make for kent.

----------
2nd tier

:10:Bittel Road hasn't really done anything, but has a late kick. Should be moving down the center of the track late.

:6:Chocolate Candy is in good form, but he also has some confirmation problems with his stride up front. If no one else above runs big, he should be right in the mix.
-----------------------
exotics add?:
:7:I Want Revenge looks a lot better on video than he does on form. Excellent mover could round out the single race exotics.

:9: Frumious is the speed of speeds. Neat little horse in an ambitious spot.

I Want Revenge

He fits a success profile for the Jeff Mullins barn. This runner comes into today's heat in a similar manner that half a dozen price horse winners before him have over the past 4 years. This asessment is arrived at by reviewing pp clippings I save. Based on those results, he is likely to improve many lengths today & therefore is my top selection.

When a player spots a success profile like this, it behooves him to not analyze the rest of the field. Should he actually handicap, he'll never overcome the doubt that will overwhelm his mind.

The area where he doesn't match up is in ownership. An owner who btw raced BC Sprint champion Squirtle Squirt. This might seem trivial, but if it were Robert Bone or Gregory Unruh for example, it's this player's interpretation that the case would be closed and it would be time to really gamble. One unit to win only.

looking at the way this track is playing...

I want to use Frumious in superfectas 1st 2nd and 3rd , and I am downgrading Bittel Road and Axel Foley to 3rd or 4th.

ventana was ridden with the purpose of eliminating Frumious rather than to win the race. Not that it wasn't expected...

good finish

I'm not a big advocate of toteboard watching, but this was a unique situation.

The winner opened up 3/2 (down from a M/L of 7/2) and closed at 7/5.

With all the So. Cal. workout services, this horse must've looked like Citation in the mornings.

I think the winner made "two runs" and then held on down the lane................

Very impressive................but it's old Fan belts so who knows how it will hold up.
