The nad part is that a parlay would have paid about $199.00

With a $75,000+ carryover plus what was wagered today minus the takeout, I'm guessing there were 400-500-winning tickets. Anyone know?

With about $413,935 in the pool, and 20.7% taken out, that would leave 328,250. If 3/4 of that is paid to 6 out of 6, then 246,187 would be paid out. Since the payoff was $155.20 ($77.60 per dollar), that would mean that $3,172 worth of tickets were purchased on the winning combination.

With $82,063 available to pay 5 out of 6, and the payout being $7.60 ($3.80 per dollar), that would mean that $21,595 worth of tickets had 5 out of 6 correct.

With $75,503 carryover, that means that $338,432 was bet today. This means that about 4% of the total pool was bet on the exact winning combination. That (and the fact that the Pick 6 payout was less than a parlay would have paid) would seem to bear out the common belief that the top favorites are terribly overbet in the pick six (and probably the other horizontal exotic bets).

The carryover portion is not subject to takeout. Only the current day's bets are.

How many of the TVG "talent" hit this big payoff? They always single 2 or 3 favorites, and then spread, but nearly always include the favorite in the other races. I would think at least one of them would have hit it.

Just short of 15,000 tickets cashed something on the P6? How many tickets were played? 15,004?

You have to watch Hollywood's races sitting down.

You can't take a chance that a favorite will get beat while you are standing up. That could be dangerous.
