Without going into great detail I have an opportunity to start a number of live, internet TV stations. Unlike streams of old, it streams at 30 frames/sec and is fairly inexpensive to generate. Through the use of the new Adobe Air, it’s a beautiful movement.

Initially, I moved in a direction to generate a city TV Station and that is moving forward nicely with community involvement in shooting and producing various shows. Actually, it's a blast.

Here’s my question? What would be a good show to broadcast that would generate the most amount of traffic?

Thus far, the top of the list is a program hosted by attractive women (& a token knowledgeable nerd) that call attention to, & sell, the best deals on the internet (negotiated by us prior to airing). Truth be told, we’ll be almost giving the stuff away to generate traffic to the site and the “next best” deals located under the video for people to click on and buy. They will be pre-screened to ensure a bonafide screamin’ deal to even qualify to participate) Think of it as a combination between Woot & QVC.

If the members fail to buy more than x number of times after committing themselves, they’re banned. We get a % of the sales sold through the broadcast & those auxiliary sales through the banner and everybody walks away happy. Local outlets to be franchised/set-up after national show is established. Cut of those pies as well.

If you have an idea for a show that you think would quickly become infectious, I welcome your input. If we eventually run with it, I compensate well. Scouts honor.

After visiting and working in Australia a couple of times, I was always enthralled with their live horse racing and how exciting it was on the radio. Something that I always kicked around in my mind was: why couldn't a studio host similar to Australia's Sky Channel stay right on top of EVERY racetrack in North America up to the minute, show video/ontrack cappers, etc and report prices instantaneously! There could be a market for that on the internet, especially with so many people complaining about having to go to several different sites for video. What "a shot in the arm" that could be for horseracing. Look at what TV, ANY kind of poker related TV show, (not to mention the internet wagering ability that we have LEGALLY in horse racing did for poker) I know a couple of potential studio hosts, too! ;)

YouTube could use some competition. Get folks to send in eclectic videos. After broadcast they could be archived on your website generating additional advertising $.

Yeah, we're gonna have a local station do a show on the latest viral vid's. They'll be inserts.

Idea 2 involves an American Idol type show but with Karaoke. We'll have folk upload their performances, pick the best, and host a show that people vote on live. Straight-up ad dollars there.

As of now I can't think of anything more powerful than this best of the best deals show. The possibilities abound.

Looks like my idea got ignored (again):D When it comes to promoting horseracing (and getting a cold shoulder) I'm used to it......LOL

I think specialty interest group programs would give you an edge. Horse racing would be a good place to start. Auction channels seem to do well. Worked for ebay.

Possibilities are unlimited. Good luck

A talent-type game show where live contestant's punishment for losing is whatever the Web audience wants based on multiple choice options responded to during the quiz, competition, etc.
Viewers have to initially send in video clips depicting the punishments before the first airing and some will be used. prizes are coupons and freebies by local sponsors. Send lots of clips of funny show stuff to the major media and UTUBE.

Chicken's Feats of Strength Power Hour.

I will require only a comely assistant and a well stocked (in the HST sense) green room, in an undisclosed location.

How about a show called "As seen on TV". It's a show that simply tests out all the as seen on TV stuff out there. We find what is worth your money and what is worth avoiding. From the $19.95 deals to the get rich schemes we test them all. Everything is done fair and unbiased so that it is always done honest and people can trust our test results.

I like to think of it along the lines of a mythbusters type show but for as seen on TV products. Get two clever hosts and assemble a team to work for and with them. Maybe test 2-3 products each show. There are plenty of these types of products out there, and they can also be stuff that is seen on the internet as well, infomercials, in print and anywhere else where it seems too good to be true. Since it is an internet show, you can keep an archive available for people so they can go back and reference any product tested.

Another show my brother in law and I thought up was one called "Reckless Cooking". In this one you give the host or cook for that episode a kitchen and a recipe, the only catch is not every pot, pan or untensil might be available to them. You set it up so there is some thing or things missing that makes it more difficult to get the job done. They won't know ahead of time and will have to come up with something on the fly to get the job done.

The reason we came up with this is because everytime you watch cooking shows on TV they have everything they need. Every ingredient, every pot, pan and untensil and even things that look like you may only use once in your life time. The point is they always have it all, and in real life the common person simply doesn't and isn't going to go out of their way to get those things. This way we end up with a show were people can more relate to. There is the anticipation each week of what is going to be missing and how are they going to solve it. I think we all have been there where we need something and we simply don't have it, so we can all relate.

I'm not sure if you would want the same host/cook each show and just throw them into a new situation each show, or would you want to maybe have a new cook each show. I was thinking maybe more along the lines of one cook, but someone who is super good at kitchen improvisation. Someone with some character and always manages to MacGyver their way out of the sticky situation.

most ideas are just too expensive to produce.

For instance, I'd watch a Punk'd version of Antiques Roadshow.

Where people are brought around to the fact that the piece of shit vase their grandmother bought at Marshalls and "handed down" to them is actually a priceless hierloom that should be insured for some ungoldly sum, and alternatively that the $5000 early 19th century New England desk they bought 5 years ago in a high end antique shop is actually a knockoff, made by some Phillipinos 6 years ago in Van Nuys. Or, after their original is secretly swapped out during the inspection phase, during filming the expert drops it and shatters it, or tears a door off the hinges, or scratches it terribly, etc.

Since my submission, though previously unmentioned, is already in the works, I have an alternate...

It is a feature, or possibly a series, requiring very little expenditure on the actors...

HD will be released in February. Exciting time to be in on this. This will likely be of limited appeal, but, since you asked, this is what I would like to have: an HD camera crew at the walking ring giving me a clear shot of all horses before, during and after they've been tacked up. And close up shots as they walk out to the track (call to the post). I want to see coats, sweat, ears, eyes and the shoes. For the shoes, it would need to be a shot from the rear so you can see the bottom of the hoof and the shoe face on -- none of this side shot that doesn't tell you anything. And, oh ya, a much easier time seeing if there's any darkly colored wraps that you might not see otherwise.

Make me happy Santa!

chickenhead -- that sounds like a bar scene to me. Why watch it on TV at 30 fps and HD when you can just drop in at the local watering hole and get it for real?

Why don't you switch it around. Instead of hot females have young good looking guys who do their pitches with their shirts off! I would imagine that the major audience on QVC and any other shopping channel is female. Put that twist in and you may get the buzz you desire. (YOU may not get a buzz but your show might :D )

Good one !

Instead of the Island of Dr. Mouroe he creates a whole island of hanibals and turns them loose on countries who won't pay him. So the US buys him off and sends them to Afghanistan :D

Escape Jurassic Park, the possibilities are endless. Crooked politicians are sent to Jurrasic Park instead of prison. :D

But my favorite is JANE BOND.. shaken,..not stirred drives a pink ferrari :D

Tom,

That is a phrase of three words. .

Biggie,

Air old TV shows that had any horserace theme. I can think of a few:

Knight Rider, She Spies (I think  ), Bachelor Father, The Beverly Hillbillies. et cetera.

Okay, then you intersperse the footage with breakdowns of how lame the technical advising is, and how unrealistic the details. All this is done by topless handicapperesses (chaps optional :jump: ), who then give out their locks for the following day.
