Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear’s Task Force on the Future of Racing reported its findings in a hearing in the state capitol in Frankfort on Monday. The Task Force, chaired by Tracy Farmer, vice chairman of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, made the following recommendations through various subcommittees:

FUNDING AND STAFFING RECOMMENDATIONS:
The following funding mechanisms are proposed:

2-Increase takeout on exotic bets and win-place-show bets, and dedicate the increase to funding the KHRC.

Quote from CD president Steve Sexton.....

"Ideally, we would not want to increase the takeout, because that ends up being a tax on our customers," Sexton said. "But when you look at the variety of options, there might have to be one, because it is important to have a solid regulatory body in this state."

Why do these dolts always want to raise takeout to pay for things that the industry needs to pay for?

If KY gets casinos and they get 100's of millions of subsidy money, would they lower the takeout? Not a chance in hell!

Good one, GF!

This moron above is only perpetuating the stereotype of KY not being to bright. This guy is seriously a dim wit with no business in this business.

Boycott KY tracks - forever.
I do and do not miss CD one bit. I will NEVER go back to betting that hole.

How stupid can this Kentucky task force get with their recommendation of hiring ten more people for dubious benefits, and want to pay for these characters with an increase in the track takeout? Especially in a recession. This is astounding!

If these idiots go through with these recommendations of raising the track takeout for these extra personnel, I won't be betting Kentucky tracks anymore.

Yup! Once again, Forrest Gump's mother had it right...."STUPID IS, AS STUPID DOES!"

Reading this kind of stuff makes me feel brilliant that I got out when the gittin' was good... Just another illustration of how the game is spiraling out of control. :bang:

I don't know how you can penalize the sport's greatest supporters and expect it to survive?

No worries though.... I'll be attending a JV basketball game with an equal or greater entertainment value.... oh how the mighty game has fallen...

I thought Maloney was on the panel or advised the panel.

I was on a subcommittee.

And yes, I repeatedly said that higher takeout is a mistake.

Unfortunately, at some point the players' concerns are overwhelmed by the politics. While some wagering security issues were addressed, others were delayed or not dealt with at all.

As players, we all rightfully complain that the industry doesn't address our needs or respect our contibutions to racing.

But in reality will this change until we change?

That is why HANA is so important.

It's much harder to ignore a thoughtful, well organized group than to ignore a single player.

I urge any player who isn't a HANA member to join. And I urge all players to make your voices heard, either thru HANA, on your own, or both. When neccessary contact CDI, Magna, individual tracks, state racing commissions, NTRA, IRS, or others.

I understand. I am 0 for life at being civil/nice with these morons. The only time I ever got anything done or their immediate attention was when I started calling them F***in morons and the only reason they even began to listen was because I had serious power through wagering handle.

I've a feeling more will be joining you HH

With thinking like "Increase take....", in a few years time the Horseplayers of America will probably be on the endangered species list

I guess the tracks or anybody with power didn't stand up for not increasing takeout.

Moron disease seems to be highly contagious.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- A House leader from Louisville yesterday filed bills to increase or extend pari-mutuel wagering taxes

Bettors also would contribute through higher takeout rates – the amount kept for taxes, purses and tracks before winning bets are paid. The maximum would be raised by almost a quarter of one percent, with the increase dedicated to the commission. The task force report said that would raise about $2.9 million a year.
