Is there a handicapping angle here with the odds-on favorite running out in a short field?
Ifyouprefersilver at 2-5 runs out of a five horse field. Hawthorne allows show bets and here is the result.

4-Lakeheath (5-1) 41.80
Problem is that most tracks will cancel show bets in these situations fearing the dredded minus pool.
