I saw an incredible looking two-year-old working at Santa Anita the other morning -- named Point Encounter, trained by Carla Gaines. Asked her about him, and she was really excited about him. One to keep an eye on. Seen any other promising looking 2-year-olds lately?

That one really gave notice in the Remsen, didn't he ? Winning at 9f as a 2-yo is impressive, winning while under wraps throughout the race was amazing, running the final furlong in :12 1/5 makes you want to run to the Derby future book betting window :)

And from watching the replay...his action is  beautiful...and he has the right trainer.
Until I see what becomes of Vineyard Haven & Mishipman...this is the one...so far!!
Might be worth :) going to the future book, Norm...if he runs another good one, his early odds are gonna drop fast.

need to find out what is going on with Micheal Matz and Nicanor...Barbaro's brother...he's been in training, and that's all I know...once they start him, he'll be one wo watch.

Big drama yes, westside had no excuses, training at the track for 2 weeks taking him out at 6am with the lights on to get him accustomed to the conditions, and working him out between races! The horse had the perfect trip, one that any of the others would of loved to have. Old fashioned is a bit better then the eventual winner Big Drama. Long way to go but it will be fun to watch these horses as three year olds. Oh by the way did you see how the :9: closed Stimulus Plan last night in the Delta Jackpot? If you didnt take another look at the race another 1/16th of a mile and he blows by both Big Drama and Westside Bernie. You have to add Stimulus Plan to your possible derby hopefuls.

Second that emotion, Old Fashioned wasn't asked at all, very impressive.

Also Terrain out of Sky Mesa, so far 6 starts, has won Arlington-Washington Futurity, Mountaineer Juvenile S., 2nd Breeders' Futurity

Big Drama was impressive in the Jackpot. He may eventually have distance limitations but for now I'd rank him an Old Fashioned on top.

Was the Remsen that bad of a win? I just watched it again for the 10th time he looked like he was restrained so much anymore would of been criminal!

Good luck with that.

I've stated my views of his race previously on this board. We see horses and races completely differently.

I read all of your comments on the race,we will all have to wait and see if this one makes the final cut. Based on his previous races he looks like a solid contender for the Derby. One thing I am curious about is your assessment of Big Drama, Westside bernie and the fast closing Stimulis Plan in the Delta Jackpot.

look into his eyes....scary. I wonder if he stares down each horse individually before the race. I bet if you passed him on the shedrow you'd keep your head down and keep walkin. He looks like he means business.

Outstanding photo...what a gorgeous colt Old Fashioned is, and he does have that 'Look of Eagles'...and check out Larry...could his smile be any bigger...any brighter...it's great to see him like that again...totally happy.
Right now, this colt is on top of my Derby hopeful list.

You have to add Stimulus Plan to your possible derby hopefuls. My knock on Stimulus Plan is that he basically lost touch with the field in first 3/8ths. I had him at least 10 lengths out from 9th place horse coming by grandstand! Stimulus Plan started move almost identical to Birdbirdistheword's 2006 Jackpot winning move on backstretch. However, He could not overcome huge deficit from earlier in race. I would suggest that if he stays closer to field that he might do well at 9 (or more) furlongs with hot pace in early part of race. Classic Silky Sullivan closer...

I dare you to say that to Old Fashioned's face. You'd probably be begging him for your nose back. Look at that photo again....you can tell alot from looking at a horse's face and eyes.
