All the top executives from Santa Anita were over there today.
Rumor:
Hollywood will close after the Turf Festival next weekend.
Will Santa Anita take their last two weeks?
I know the trainers have been pushing to close HP the last two weeks, they are very unhappy with the purse situation.
It should be interesting.
Rumor:
Godolfin is looking to purchase Santa Anita from the financially troubled Frank Stronach.
Rumor:
The San Manuel Indians are also interested in the Arcadia property.

My question is, I wonder if Hollywood will open it's summer meet in '09?
If they do, what is the odds of a fall meet there? Slim to none? yep.

Based on the LA Times article that just came out tonight where Liebau of Hollywood Park said an ADW deal was imminent, my guess was the Santa Anita execs were talking a deal on ADW with the TOC.

There is a zero chance of the meet ending as you discussed. HP is not closing yet in this real estate environment and lending environment. I do agree the Tribe might be buying Santa Anita.

Agree that the stairwells are an eyesore, but I would stop short of saying Stronach ruined Santa Anita, as one can still sit down and watch the races. Stronach ruined Gulfstream.

Juan said that the "architecture was ruined", not the track.

That wasn't all Frank originally wanted to do. Wish I still had the Arcadia Community Paper that showed a diagram of how he wanted to turn Santa Anita into an Equestrian Center & change the whole look of SA like Gulfstream. To give him credit though, the best thing he did in terms of architecture was to remove that old sloping apron & put in the terraced one. On the original one on rainy days you took your life in your hands trying to walk on those slick tiles.
