Finger Lakes canceled the remainder of their card today, probably at the insistence of the jockeys. Looking at the condition of their track, I don't blame them; it didn't look very safe out there.

For those who bet the Pick 4 on races 2-5, it paid 1/all/all/all at $2.40 for a 50 cent bet ($9.60 for a $2 bet). The winner of the 2nd race paid $10.20.

Taking the $9.60, dividing it by 0.75 (replacing the 25% Pick-4 takeout), and multiplying that by 0.82 (removing the win takeout of 18%), yields an adjusted-to-win-takeout mutuel of $10.50 (10.496), which means that the horse was slightly underbet, relative to its win odds, in the Pick 4. While the pools at FL aren't that big, I'd guess that this is the norm among lower-priced (under 6-1 or so) horses in horizontal wagers, especially at tracks that allow such as 50c bets, which encourages "all" wheels in races.
