The fan on my HP zd7000 is constantly running from the moment i turn it on to shuting it down. I have cleaned out the fans thouroughly of dust and still no help. Any sugestions would be apreciated.

Open up your task manager and click on the processes tab. Sort by CPU and see what the computer is doing. Is the some process actually doing something all that time and heating up your computer, causing the fan to run?

My HP fan runs for long periods of time, too. Sometimes, it doesn't.

I know that I wrote some software that uses a timer. For some reason the timer causes the fan to run. I've had other users of my software say the same thing happens on their HP computers.

I notice my Internet Explorer updates some stock quotes in real-time, so that may be the cause, too.

do i find the task manager? One way to get to it is to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del. It'll open right up in XP. In Vista, you'll have to choose it from there.

Dutch, excellent site!!! Think my first step will be to go out and by a can or 2 of the compressed air and spray it in there and really blow all the dust out. From what i read on the site it works better than a vacum.
