View Full Version : Big Hit payout question
I know of some guys who went in on the Saturday BC Pick 6 at Santa Anita and hit it. Anyway they get paid in cash and end up stuffing nearly $60k into every available pocket, binocular case, etc.
Seems pretty crazy to me to not get paid by check. But not ever hitting one of these monsters myself before, I don't know the protocol.
What is the payout procedure for an on-track big score like this?

I think you can get a check if you request it.
Or, you can get vouchers and take them home and cash them at your leisure instead of hauling all that cash out at once.
People are always watching, be VERY careful walking in any parking lot with that kind of money.
You should cash for vouchers and be extremely discreet when you do. The vouchers are good for over a year, you can go back a few times and cash in for a few grand at a time if you want.

Reminds me of the night a bridge jumper came to Garden State with $20,000. Hit for $21,000 and got mugged on the way to his car from some guys who were watching him flash that cash.
BRAVE people, hope they had someone pull the car up and hopped in fast!

Several years ago, someone hit a big score at HP and mouthed off to everyone about it. Got robbed and shot(killed) getting into his car. Not a good thing to do.

There could have been a problem with the track refusing to issue multiple checks...I think the track will only issue one check to one person in these instances.
Or, perhaps there was a "10per-center" involved.
I don't understand the difference in walking out with 60k in cash stuffed in my pockets or 60k in vouchers on me. A check would be the way to go.

I would probably take the cash and just request a security escort on the way out. Pretty sure they'd do that for you if you ask.

I'd take a check all the way. Why even risk getting jacked with that kind of cash unless you're hiding something from the IRS or are in serious child support arrears? What, you think that Breeders' Cup Ltd. would bounce a check for $60K when they take in millions every year? Morons.
