Anyone see this race from Hawthorne and the huge late move inside the 1/8 pole?
Here's a link to the race video:

Watch the :3: horse, she's last turning into the stretch.

Anything out of sorts here? Some people think so:

It's probably just a fluke,
Donnaguska exploded late, and lit up the tote, but the payoffs are reasonable:

Yeah, I saw that. The move looked impressive, but the Beyer is slow. My best guesstimate is that the Beyer comes back in the high 60's.

LOL, I read the thread you showed me.
I now know what a S.S. is referring too when some old guy said it at the track.

As for the move, it was nothing special.
Everyone else in the race was tired and the 3 took care of business.

Everyone who I've shown that video to the last few days has been blown away as I tell them (as the field turns into the stretch) that the winner ISN'T IN THE PICTURE YET!

I don't recall the early fractions in this SPRINT race (another factor that makes it impressive...it was a sprint race)...was it a suicide up front?

Regardless, if you do the math and numbers don't lie,

she ran the last quarter mile in :21.4!

Correction, another user from another forum has her at 24 lengths behind at the 1/4 pole, thus the last quarter was in :21.1. AWESOME.

DONNAGUSKA is entered in the 3rd at Hawthorne tomorrow. 12:1 M/L, but I suspect she'll take some action. The Beyer came back 59.

Same here PA- sent it to about 10 or so and those who replied were "Wow" or similar, and most are not race fans.

Yeah, wow is right. Bet down to 3:1 and she broke down.

Broke down? I watched the race. When did she break down? On the gallop out?

:3: WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!
What an amazing run...I don't care what her numbers are...that filly ran an incredible race...and did ya see her jock wasn't sure where to put her to get a clean run thru the field...so she kinda went this way & that a few strides...bet her jock got a hell of a thrill off that stretch run...she pulled a 'Silky Sullivan':jump:

Now, please....tell me Jeremy Jet is wrong about her breaking down:ThmbDown:

What??? Now I am confused  are we talking about the same race??? Hawthorne, Oct.23rd, 8th race??
Or did she run back, finish 5th and get vanned off??

She ran today in Haw 3rd in a 6 horse field (2 scratches) and went off @ 3/1 . Made a belated move at the top of the stretch flattened out and finished 5th. I did not know about the van off. What??? Now I am confused  are we talking about the same race??? Hawthorne, Oct.23rd, 8th race??

Thanks for the update, cj's dad...guess her 'Silky Sulivan' move on Oct.23rd was a freak thing...or it took so much out of her, she flattened out in this recent race...at any rate, I hope she is OK and they take good care of her.

I watched the race on the Hawthorne website. Couldn't really get a good look at Donnaguska past the finish line but I thought I saw her standing on the side of the track after the race with a couple of outriders. Hopefully it's nothing serious and just a precaution to van her off. Best of luck to her in the future.

Donnaguska does it again mowing down the field late.
What a training job by Joe Woodard!:D
"Vanned off" at Hawthorne comes back almost 6 weeks later in an Allowance race at Turfway and wins for fun:

15 bucks to boot. After monitoring this board, I watched the replay of her first Hawthorne race. Put her in my stable and got notice that she was running at Turfay.

For some very odd reason, that can only be explained by idiocy, I talked myself off her and she wins for fun. :bang:

What a game...

She was entered on both Sunday (12/14 at Turfway purse $24 k) and Monday (12/15 at Mountaineer purse $24.9 k). She ran on Sunday, therefore they scratched her for Monday.

Nice wide move on the turn for Donnaguska at Turfway on Sunday. Hard not to like her late-running style.

the girl who takes care of her said she wasn't injured in the van-off race, it was a couple of shoes that had ripped off and subsequent bruised hooves.

She comes back tomorrow in the 10th at TP. We'll see if she's just a stretch running sprinter or not.
