Well, I'll be. Imagine that. "Senior White House staff... and ... Petraus "support talking to our adversaries in order to acieve stability and reduce deaths.

One less talking point to remember.

Nope. He is wrong.
You cannot trust these animals. Anyone who does is a fool. That includes Petraus is he thinks he can.

You want less violence, you kill them.

Actually, the Tailban was not our real enemy it was Al Queda. If the Taliban disassociate themselves with Al Queda were does that leave Al Queda?

Point out for me the common ground you and the Taliban share from this article. Which of these acts lead you conclude that they are honest people who will keep their word? What here leads you to call Bush a liar and yet embrace these people as trustworthy?

In 'cap's version of reality any and all enemies of the U.S. are more trustworthy than the sitting president. If 'cap had his way, he'd be lobbying for huge amounts of foreign aid to be sent to these whackjobs on the basis that they're underdogs and an oppressed people.

Nope , Gen P has this more right, there are Taliban and many others there who are not dead enders. Those we use , we try to bring them along and eventually crowd out the dead enders.

That's all that can work.
If bombing would have done the trick, then we have allready dropped enough the first time around, notice that now they are right back.

Notice , too that the ruskies dropped tons and they survived that as well.

That path, while endlessly satisfying to you and junior won't cut the mustard there.

We will be in AFG in force for many many years , hope your grandkids don't mind the duty.

Also, no matter how long , they will still be there, will we?

Oh, and box, actually you hit upon what WILL have to happen.
the only way out, if there is one, is to build up the parts of AFG that we can after we cut deals with the non dead enders and setup a US peacekeeping force in every little slum and hillside over there and then try to build up an economy and system that the non dead enders will value enough to fight for.

You will be sending tens of billions over there with no assurance of a good outcome.

Taxes , did i hear taxes for AFG.

Not all it was cracked up to be , huh?

shock and awe comes right back at ya!
