This is from Davidowitz's book Betting Thoroughbred's in which he uses Ron Cox's method
When 3 horses combine for 21-24 speed points or four have a total of 27 + pace will be fast and late runners will have a better chance. On a late runners track criteria should be lowered to 18 and 23 points.
Does anybody else have another way that they use them?

I have been using Quirin speed points lately to find "races like this one" using HSH. Roughly, I use four groups:
High speed; 22 or more points
Regular speed 18-21 points
Medium speed 14-17 points
Low speed 13 or fewer points
These are scores for four horses. I find these groups roughly divide claiming races into 25% groups. There is no other science behind these groups I have created.
As I recall, my finding with high speed races was not that closers were the correct choices, but rather the horse with the highest number of speed points.
Quirin speed points is a topic I would like to learn more about.

Check out Randy Giles Pace Pictures. Good ideas there.
The book is well worth it.

They would be the top four irrespective of running style.
