What past performance's do you use for thoroughbreds? At the beginning I just used the program at the track because I didn't know any better, then I started using on-line services such as Bris and just recently (keep in mind I am still new at this) started using the Daily Racing Form. Which do you guys prefer and why? It's easy right now for me to say I prefer the DRF because it has stats that the others don't have that led me to two very nice longshots in the past 7 days including a $75 horse last night.
Replies appreciated.

My problem is I like the BRIS speed figs and the Beyers figs. If I have to use only 1, I'll use BRIS, but I love the Beyers as a check -- to corroborate a strange BRIS figure.
BTW, in Aqueduct's 10th race yesterday the horse with the best Beyer in the last 45 days won and paid $11.
Who says there's no value with Beyers?

I use the DRF only, simply because after reading it for 25 years, pulling out the relevent info I concentrate on is second nature. Sometimes I'll have to use some other program or format and I'll feel lost, as if I'm looking at a foreign language.

I never touch the DRF data. I just find that the BRIS and TSN stuff can be manipulated or presented better based on my needs via several different software programs. This is a personal choice. I am an advanced computer user and can get more out of the data even if I have to put it in my own database.
I have purchased some DRF data via their online site. When I first started capping a couple of years ago. I also have used the standard paper version. I had to drive 20 miles to get it too. The Bris and Tsn data just holds more that I prefer. The handicapping stuff that DRF offers that provides picks and all the different numbers etc is in my opine the biggest waste of money you can participate in. It is favorite oriented, and I think they use that to their advantage when they advertise their percentages of winners etc. On the same theme, Take last years Kentucky Derby. They posted the picks of their Handicappers and promoted it like they always do, it's their business. Of the 9 cappers War Emblem didn't show up at all on 8 of them. They went four deep in their picks too. The 9th person had War Emblem on top. He was the "Webmaster" for their web site. I stopped buying anything from them after that. I knew right then that I wasn't gaining anything by reading their stuff (their picks etc) It was really a defining moment for me. I decided right there and then that this is a game about working hard at your capping and taking a stand. Make a decision and stay with it. I have been a much better capper since. I don't need their over priced stuff. I also think their writers suck. They have a monopoly on the sport that someone should try to take from them. They just don't do their job very well in my opine. When you are the only game in town, you can get away with that.
**if you like the drf stats, you can get more out of Bris and Tsn Data files. ****** and it's not really stats per se....but more info.
If you want to see the picks from last year....I found it on my hard drive. go here, I will leave it up a few days.

I use DRF forumaltor version. I can manupilate the data in 100's of ways. Thats how I handicap. I really like the DRF formulator.
As far as DRF...They do , to much handicapping. I don't need anyone to pick horses for me. But when I stroll through the closer look....I see "the pick" or "Fits best underneath" . To me this is a waste of thier time and ink. I'll decide where a Horse best fits. Thats what I buy the data for. I'd really like DRF to stop doing so much handicapping. Take all that eneregy and time and provide more DATA........
The information they provide on Firsters is poor. When I see a field with 4 or 5 firsters. I ignore the DRF. I go into other pedigree databases I have access to , and do my work from there.
