And again, I must ask why it is that Google goes to great lengths to present BLOG LINKS as some sort of hard news item? Most of the links to this story on Google News are appearing in the form of political blog entries.

This isn't news. It's opinion for the most part, but is never presented as such. You have to read the fine print to discover what you are reading is a blog.

Because Google is run with the mindset and under the direction of Al Gore.
" Gore became a senior adviser to the Internet search engine back in February 2001, and is a close friend of CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt. "

it might have to do with Google running Adwords on the majority of blogs out there, thus boosting their own profit margins anytime they can funnel readers back into their own universe rather than letting them loose into the world.

OR

they just want to turn us all into effete commies.

One or the other, I can't figure it out. Maybe it's a seredipitous solution to both.

All these replies, and nobody has addressed my main question...why is what this woman said now (supposedly) jeopardizing what was previously seen as a slam dunk win for her?

I went to Google, typed in her name, clicked "News," and got these-
-Star Trib (Doyle)
- Pioneer Press
- St Cloud Times
You'd have to ask Google WHY these came up first. I suppose they are considered news orgs so perhaps that is how the search engine works.

Little of what you hear or read is pure news. Would you know it when you saw it?
