I made up this riddle when I noticed Sarah Palin's name is in the word palindrome. It's a tricky one -- I hope. Good luck.

A palindrome is a word or phrase or number that reads the same forward as backward.

For example, "Madam I'm Adam" or "Able was I ere I saw Elba".

How can Sarah Palin be a palindrome?

If she is an "E Babe?"

That's a good attempt! But it's not what I had in mind.

Not getting many replies here. Should I give a hint?

Perhaps it wasn't p-l-a-i-n enough.

I tried playing around with:

s a r a h p a l i n n i l a p h a r a s

but haven't come up with anything yet. Maybe it'll look easier once I've type it. Not sure if some more words before and after are needed to make words and some mild sense.

I suppose Sarah Palin and her husband could start a business, say a roller rink or a bowling alley, and call it the Palindrome. Then when she's there, Sarah Palin would be in the Palindrome.

Oh, word games and tricks!

I'm not sure, man.
I'm not Sherman
I'm not your man.
I'm not German.
I'm Nacho Man.

That's a pretty good one, too!

This is a riddle, so by it's nature it is a little misleading, but at the same time challenging.

Here's a hint:

Think etymologically.

Sporting and green tourism : Winter sports—skiing, cross-country skiing, and snow-shoeing—are all available in Drôme. During the summer period, excursions, mountain biking can be practiced, discovering the mountainous area.

now you got me scratching my head a little.........

WOW Didn't know there was a town named Drome. That does have possibilities!

As I wrote before, the key is in the etymology. And also, the question is important.

After all this, I hope the payoff doesn't suck. Apologies in advance.

By the way, "mom" was a good answer, too.

Sorry, I'm not up on etymology. I've had a hard enough time overcoming et-em-all-oh-gee.

OK. I'm sure the suspense is killing you.

Here is the etymology of the word palindrome:

[Origin: 1620–30; < Gk palíndromos recurring, equiv. to pálin again, back + -dromos running (see -drome)]

So the answer to the riddle "How can Sarah Palin be a palindrome" is this....

Sarah Palin can be a palindrome if McCain/Palin wins the election and then runs for re-election in 2012, in which case she will be "running back again".

Sorry if that was lame. What can I say. You throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. :D

I almost typed something along the same lines, but couldnt turn it into a palindrome. I was going to answer you " If she was running back in 2002"....since 2002 is a palindrome, but the other words werent, and 2002 wasnt a president election year. Thanks for the brainteaser. rbj

You're stretching it, but it was good for a laugh.

We also used Sarah Palin Reverend Spooner style in the cruciverbalist cryptic thread on this site's "Need Puzzle Help," with modifications.
We had her as a water sport = Parasailin'

Parasailin' -- that's a good one!

When I was creating my Sarah Palin riddle, I was reminded of a song lyric.

Remember the lyric, "Take the L out of Lover and it's Over"?

Take the L out of Palin and it's pain.

I have no idea what that means. :D
