Dan Serra has an interesting article about Lasix on ITS site

www.itsdata.com/FreeArticle/danserra/070601.htm

I quote 2 paragraphs:

Up until recent years, first time starters with
lasix seldom won. It is now commonplace for nearly fifty percent of "firsters" to have been treated with this medication.

Now, we must tread lightly on the following subject, Certain trainers almost never send out horses who have not been treated with Lasix. There is no question that a very large percentage of horses on Lasix are not "true bleeders". In many cases, it is simply a matter of this conditioner looking for whatever edge he can find. In fact many trainers use massive amounts of Lasix to mask performance-enhancing drugs. Keep in mind, Lasix is a diuretic, akin to a human taking water pills.

End of quote
