DUBLIN, Ireland - The race is over as far as Ireland's biggest bookmaker is concerned.

Paddy Power PLC says it is so sure Barack Obama will win the U.S. presidential election next month that it paid off Thursday on all bets it had taken backing the Democratic candidate. It said it shelled out more than euro1 million, about $1.35 million.

"We declare this race well and truly over and congratulate all those who backed Obama — your winnings await you," the company said in a statement.

I'm sure it is cheap advertising for them. They payoff early and get worldwide attention.

1.35M is nothing to Soros. It wouldn't surprise me if he offered to stand behind these wagers in exchange for some more ridiculous publicity.

I predict all these stunts are going to backfire on Obama come election day. Americans get tired after awhile of being told who they should vote for....

I know I do.

The media has never tried this hard to shove a candidate down our throat. I agree PA, the public is not this gullible. That empty suit will not be elected. Then there will be riots in the streets.....no osama, no peace or something.

Carville almost guaranteed riots. Says a lot for his respect for African Americans doesn't it?

Carville almost guaranteed riots. There is indeed some sick folks out there...but instead, the media would rather focus on a phantom menace yelling "kill him" at some rally.
