Anyone here notice jockeys who ride on your favorite circuit
who go to the lead more than others

On the NY circuit this Belmont meet
Prado wins mostly from behind
while
Castellano seems to win mostly on the front end

If Calvin Borel is in a route race at Oaklawn with an inside post and not a whole lot of other early speed in the race, he will put some horses on the lead that would have been hard to envision there.

My namesake does not hesitate to go to the front either. Yay Cindy!

Perry Outz at River Downs/Turfway could always get them out of the gate.

He is also notorious for getting left at the gate.

One of my favorite skills for a jockey is the ability to go wire to wire in a turf route. Track configuration often comes into play in a turf route mainly with chutes and distance from gate to turn, and even considering the infamous rail placement...
It is amazing how often these advantages exist and are not taken.

There are very few jockeys who have any talent whatsoever at going wire to wire in a turf route. Maybe it is extremely difficult? Regardless it is rare to see the talent. Ramon Dominguez is the best in North America, possibly the world. He relaxes the horse, he controls the pace and he has enough finesse to give his horse every chance to be strong in the stretch. I think it is by far Dominguez's best talent, and although he is popular, maybe his only talent that separates him from other top jockeys.
Coa is maybe the distant 2nd best on the east coast. He is extremely under-utilized in this regard. Coa is good enough at it that he could be stealing a lot more of certain turf routes. His agent does not place him in those situations enough.
Fragoso is not a top jockey but has some aptitude at wiring a turf route. - A journeyman at tracks like monmouth that could actually go to New York and do nothing but speed horses in certain turf routes easily.
Malcom Franklin is a capable turf route speed jockey.
Jeremy Rose is smart enough to notice the advantages, and he is aggressive enough to put his horse there, although his finesse isn't perfect.
On the west coast Flores seems to be the best at this.
Mike Smith takes a lot of heat for his overal skills, but is a sharp turf route speed jockey.

as far as pure tendancies apart from skill you can count on Mike Luzzi to bring a middle of the pack dirt horse , first time on turf and burn him out as an (somewhat)unexpected pace setter, time and again.

You can almost count on PVal being in front just about anywhere he rides, which is in Louisiana nowadays. Probably the best early speed jock, if not the best ever this generation's witnessed.

Rafael Bejarano had a great ride on Intercontinental to win the F&M BC wire to wire in 2005.

I love Martin Pedroza on the front. Channing Hill is very good at rating a horse on the lead

It would be cool to have a 10-race past performance of the jockey too. It would look just like the horse's, but would show how the jockey did instead. You could compare the horse today with a similar horse the jockey had ridden before.
