They sound gimmicky, but as long as they work, has anyone tried? Do they keep cold air out? The plastic sheeting you place and then seal with blow dryer by 3M. I'm in a historical building and storm windows are not allowed, no screens either just the big huge windows letting everything and his brother through the cracks.

Far from gimmicky they work quite well. Caulk any noticeable gaps then apply film. I had a lake home in northern Minnesota and can vouch it really helps.

bigmack,

how do they work? I mean, do you have to remove the blinds first? Or just tape down sharp edges?

Don't know the configuration of your blinds et al. Stick your nose in Home Depot or likewise and ask. The cheaper, non-3M works equally as well.
