To my surprise i just read that the 6 & 9 deadheated for 3rd.
North American pools only paid off with the 6 in the 3rd spot.
The 9 at over 100-1 only got paid for 4th.
Any recourse? Who was the host track?

in a dead heat in muti wagers don't they pay the same no matter the odds on the horse. It's the lowest amount but you get it on both horeses.

The Judge--
I don't know if you are accurate (I assume you mean MULTI wagers), but even if you are, there are NO payouts listed ANYWHERE for the #9. I would be very mad if my horse deadheated for ANY position and they paid for one but not the one I bet on!!

In other deadheats I have always seen pro-rated payouts....depending on the odds on your horse, you receive a prorated amount. I do not believe I have ever seen a one-price fits all on a deadheat.

Those of you across the pond.....is there something in your rules of racing that would cause this? I cannot fathom why the owners are objecting to a deadheat as well......??? Do they see something in the photo that the judges don't that they don't want to split the purse money....pretty sure they probably bet their own horse anyway!

TVG results show the following:

#6 - show @ $5.20
#9 - 4th in superfecta @ $9835
Trifecta - #9 not listed in 3rd

Seems like Arlington was the host track. Comments indicate there was only $53.00 bet to show on the 150-1 longshot. #9 if recall the number correct.

Is it possible that no one had the #9 in the tri as was pointed out at another site? As far as show betting I think it's not an option at the track in Paris; however it would seem that if Arlington accepted show wagers, it obviously must pay both the DH's at the proportional price as dictated by the show amount for each.

I also did not see a S-Fecta payout in Paris so I am assuming the SF pool was an American thing- wonder if 1 ticket swept the pool?

The NA pool is totally independent from europe.
It seems clear that someone missed the fact that
there was a deadheat.

they did deadheat but news tonight is that the owners of number 9 its gino are to use legal action to get the placing of third. The trainer has looked at the photo finish numerous times and is adamant that his horse won...but then again he is german:D

Looking at that picture with a Magnifying glass there is no way that is a dead heat if it is the 6 has the biggest nose in the history of horse racing

From Equidaily ...

EXCLUSIVE... Arc payoff snafu/correction

Readers have contacted Equidaily.com regarding the American payoffs for Sunday's Arc de Triomphe. The American payoffs posted after the race did not acknowledge the dead-heat for third. There was no show payoff listed for dead-heater It's Gino, and there was only one payoff each for the trifecta and superfecta.

Equidaily.com contacted the Arlington Park wagering hub and below is their response -- with corrected payoffs:

There was a correction in the order of finish on Race 6 (Arc de triomphe) from Longchamp Racecourse in France on Sunday, October 5, 2008. The original order of finish listed #6 SOLDIER OF FORTUNE officially in third place, and #9 IT’S GINO officially in fourth place. However, the actual order of finish is a DEAD HEAT FOR THIRD between #6 SOLDIER OF FORTUNE and #9 IT’S GINO.

The information that there was a dead-heat did not get communicated to the United States tote hub. We are working diligently with all wagering sites affected by this mistake to find all patrons who bet on #9 to show, as well as those who had the 16-1-9 trifecta and 16-1-9-6 superfecta and to see that those patrons are paid properly.

Anyone who wagered on #9 to show, or the 16-1-9 trifecta, or 16-1-9-6 superfecta should contact the manager at the wagering site to receive payment. Fans who bet via an on-line wagering account will be notified by their provider to receive credit. The correct payoffs were re-calculated and priced as follows:
# 16 ZARKAVA 6.00 4.40 3.80
# 1 YOUMZAIN 6.00 4.60
# 6 SOLDIER OF FORTUNE 3.40
# 9 IT’S GINO 29.40
$2 Exacta 16-1 $ 68.20
$2 Trifecta 16-1-6 $ 165.20
$2 Trifecta 16-1-9 $1,592.20
$0.10 Superfecta 16-1-6-9 $ 491.70
$0.10 Superfecta 16-1-9-6 $2,212.68
