From the article: "Casino Drive will arrive in California on Oct. 1 to complete preparations for the Classic...Arlington Million winner Spirit One will use Santa Anita's Goodwood Stakes on Sept. 27 as a trial for his intended run in the Classic... Three other highly regarded Europeans also are involved in preparations for a possible run at the Classic. Trainer Aidan O'Brien is considering both Duke of Marmalade and Henrythenavigator, while his fellow Irishman Jim Bolger is contemplating a run with New Approach."
This is VERY interesting and could make the Classic the most intriguing BC race ever. The American press, justifiably so, was giving the Curlin camp all kinds of kudos for trying the turf and possibly the Arc, but they basically have been given a pass for not wanting to try the synthetic surface.
Now, here come the Euros and Japanese best all willing to take a crack at it...very sporting indeed.

It would be great to see some of the top foreign turf horses come here for the classic. In general turf horses will be extremely well suited to classic distances over the synthetic tracks. Santa Anita Pro-ride is an unknown to me at this point.

Do I understand this correctly?
Casino Drive is going to run in the Classic off a layoff and just two lifetime starts?

Keep the salt and pepper handy, I think he could use some more seasoning.
