View Full Version : Obama: "Americans basically decent"

In his now infamous kindergarden sex speech, the great one had these moving thoughts to share;

"The one thing that I want to insist on is that, as I travel around the country, the American people are a decent people. Now they get confused sometimes. You know, they listen to the wrong talk radio shows or watch the wrong TV networks, um, but they’re, they’re basically decent, they’re basically sound."

So to Barry, Americans are sound, except those that listen to or watch the wrong shows, or those that bitterly cling to guns or religion. Gee thanks.

Being fair....it's possible he was joking a bit.

Just as I will introduce a friend of mine to others and say, "he's basically OK, he can't help being a Mavericks fan!"....knowing that I'm not a Mavericks fan,.... and being a Spurs fan with four championships to brag about...... it's a way to cut him down in a joking way.

okay maybe, but what was the joke? and why should a presidential candidate make a joke to one segment of Americans at the expense of others.

same as the remarks he made about "bitter and clinging to guns" remark he made in San Francisco.

This one I can see as a kind of a joke...."watching the wrong network and listening to the wrong talk shows" as kind of a way to cut down conservatives.

The "clinging to guns and religion" was just an idiotic statement making him appear to be one of the "elite", who is just so much better than the average dumb American...in his opinion.

He just seems so condescending that I can't stand listening to him myself. He reminds me of a cult leader. He causes his flock to cry and look up to him as some sort of larger than life diety. Watching Oprah cry like she just saw the Sermon on the Mount was most disgusting.

McCain Goodies:

"F**k you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room." --to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), during a testy exchange about immigration legislation

"No, I'm calling you a f*cking jerk." --to fellow Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, when Grassley asked "Are you calling me stupid?"

"Only an a**hole would put together a budget like this ... I wouldn't call you an a**hole unless you really were an a**hole." --to Budget Committee Chairman and fellow Repulican Sen. Pete Domenici, during a Senate budget hearing.

"I will conduct a respectful debate. Now, it will be dispirited -- it will be spirited -- because there are stark differences. I am a proud conservative, liberal Republica-- conservative Republican...Hello? Easy there."

As a alumnus of both Columbia University and NYU from the 70's not much has changed with the self described elites. It's very simple. They are smart, and the rest of the population is dumb.

As a traditionalist, I'd drive them crazy in conversation by stating, "I'm smart too". That comment in itself would drive them into a frenzy.

Enough said.

O'Bama certainly is very smart.

Look how much money he has made during the horrible Bush era! He couldn't afford cab fare home from the convention under Clinton, and now he is rolling in money! How did he do that during the horrible depression that has been Bush?

And just look at this guy - running for the highest office in the land after one speech and nothing else in his entire career! A man who has never done anything, just look at him! I am awe struck.

Obama reminds me of a used car salesman. No,..I'm serious. Think about it. When he talks the first thing I do is grab my wallet and clutch it tight.

Hey Box Obama says people are basically decent.

After reading your diatribe on "The Other Side of God", about people being by nature, evil deceivers, you now must feel spiritually justified in your political analysis of Obama. Not only is he wrong politically, but wrong from your rigid ironclad biblical framework.

Oh wait a sec, most liberals believe in the innate goodness of man. No wonder you hate libs. Of course "hate" is a form of deceit, but that's another topic. Let's just say you dislike libs and Obama.

My guess is you must love Dick Cheney. :bang:

BTW, your signature would have to be edited to reflect a little less less hate.

9/11 was a little bit different than a freaking democratic convention.
