I'll start off with a few:
BAD NEWS:
1. T.O.C.
--This organization is led by the illustrious Drew Couto. I don't like his devious way of operating that place. My tip to California owners and trainers...try to oust him out in the next election. In my opinion, he's bad news for horsemen as well as for bettors. Look at the decline of the parimutuel handle at the recent Del Mar meet for one example, and the purse cuts that resulted for horsemen. His consistent shutting out of some American ADWs for REASONS THAT SOUND GOOD and not GOOD SOUND REASONS, limits bettors choices and just ticks them off. In my opinion, this just makes bettors want to bet at offshore racebooks all the more. I'm in that group...I bet California thoroughbred tracks at PINNACLE SPORTS. And how do California horse owners and trainers benefit financially from that? The answer is simple...they don't....they get nothing...nil...nada...no money at all from the offshore racebooks.
2. TVG -- Tracks who sign up with this company, wind up ticking off a lot of potential ADW customers as well, because of TVG's 'exclusivity' contracts. Again, I usually wind up betting at an offshore racebook on TVG tracks. How dumb can these tracks be I ask myself, when these tracks get hooked up with TVG? Horsemen will get similar offshore racebook benefits as listed in item number 1 above.
GOOD NEWS:
1. PTC -- A refreshing piece of beneficial news for bettors. The service and rebates are A-1. There is also conditional wagering, an option for cancelling wagers, and excellent betting reports to name a few more benefits. What with all the greedy thoroughbred horseman associations and/or horsemen group executives stifling PTC track offerings lately, it's a wonder Ian Meyers hasn't gone really gray lately!...or has he? :D
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
--It's kind of interesting that harness and greyhound owners and trainers aren't greedy like their thoroughbred counterparts. This, despite the parimutuel handle generally being smaller at harness and greyhound tracks. Seems these folks are grateful for any additonal revenue that ADWS can bring compared to the avarice displayed by the thoroughbred contingent.
--I'm really tired of the greed, and whining from certain militant groups in the thoroughbred camp, as if they are hard done by tracks and ADWS etc. Plus, I get the impression that these particular pompous thoroughbred horsemen and associations are acting lately as if they are the most important part of the track, horsemen, bettors, and ADW scenario. In my opinion, they are NOT! The truth is they are all important. But, if I had to name one as the most important, it would be the CUSTOMERS..i.e. the bettors. They are the real bosses. Why? Because they are the ones who ulitmately pay all the bills that keep the other groups operating.
There...I'll get off my soapbox for now.....NEXT!
