This has been driving me a bit nuts for awhile now so I figure this is as good a place as any to ask this ridiculous question.....

We all know that Don LaFontaine, the "Voice of God" movie trailer guy passed away last week at 68. For all the accolades Don received for his great career, there's another guy out there who's been doing movie & TV trailers for quite some time who I think is even better. I first noticed him when he was doing a lot of promos for NBC a few years back. Now I noticed within the past few days that he's doing TV promos for CBS, which I presume were taped after Don's death....so this guy presumably can't be Don.

This other guy does a ton of movie trailers as well....far more than anyone else. He just did the one for "Burn After Reading". His voice is not only very deep, but has a "breathy" quality as well.....like he's "breathing" the words.
I've spent enough time doing Google searches to try to figure out who this guy is.

Does anyone have a clue who I'm talking about???

i don't know the guys name, but i believe he is the guy on the right from this segment from a Frank TV show. I thought this was a great bit. I'm pretty sure that LaFontaine is the one on the left.

The guy on the right in the "Three Tenors" clip......Pablo Francisco. He sounds just like the guy I've heard on the top trailers, some obviously newly minted after Don's passing. Saw another new trailer by him last night.

My only remaining doubt is whether a guy like Pablo who works as a comedian would be as available as necessary to crank out these trailers at the high quantity this guy does.

The search is finally over....I found a website for a studio in Burbank where about 10 of these voice over guys ply their trade. I listened to clips by Andy Geller (Grey's Anatomy)....not him. Johnantan Cook....not him. Ashton Smith....Bingo!

The movie trailer guy parody that comic Pablo Francisco does came very close, but he sounded too much like the late Don LaFontaine to be the guy I had in mind.

Ashton Smith is now the top movie trailer guy in the biz, IMHO.....take a listen...

Was it the deep voiced guy in The Big Lebowski who talked to The Dude at the bowling alley bar? The Coen Brothers like to use a lot of the same actors in their movies.
