They said it would knock 4 to 5 seconds of off LTM. I know they were banned, guessing it must have been a safety issue.

If I recall correctly, they couldn't make them fast enough once people saw 2-3 secs. being knocked off first time out.
But I believe they were quickly banned because they were deemed too dangerous.

Man ,I remember those Single Shaft Sulkys, when they first hit the scene, they were all the rage, and they did do wonders with the final times of certain horses......The trouble is that when a driver lost control of a horse going sideways, the horse beacame unmangeable at a certain point....It seems that the side shafts of the sulkys help a horse to maintain the illusion of confinement.......Well they sure looked different when seeing it for the first time........They just kind of left abruptly.......

best.

Seems like the horse was still pulling the same load, why the speed increase? Shaft weight?
Guess it led to the "Modified Sulky" which used to be a note in programs. [MS]

Hit one nice winner, but not a profitable night.:(

Balmoral R10........163 no hit .........scratch 9
Georgian R6.........362 Winner $37.70
Georgian R7.........217 no hit
Hazel Park R8.......682 no hit
Indiana R11.........526 no hit ..............(#5 paid $129.20 to win)
Indiana R13.........657 no hit
Pocono R8...........527 no hit
Yonkers R8..........642 no hit
Yonkers R10.........536 Exacta $38.80
Yonkers R11.........256 no hit

Win Bets $20 in, $38 back
Exactas $112 in, $39 back
Trifectas $18 loss

Hey Ray Nice call on the #3 Yorktown Heights at Georgian Downs and My my a $129.00 Horse Excellent excellent at first I thought it was a tri hit.

I think that 38 back in the win column should read $167

Thanks SB

I got the win hit on the colt at Georgia but I just had to point out the big win price at Indiana,.. I played the 6 who came in third.

Good Luck, I look forward to your Mohawk picks:)

Oops sorry I got confused about the $129 horse.

No harm no foul.
