This is a refreshing change to the usual story in which unusual betting action always seems to benefit those responsible for it.

The pick 3 betting into the 8th and 9th races at Louisiana Downs on friday was very strange. The typical mid-card pick 3 pool here generally has around $2k and change bet into it; but in both of these races, the pool was around $35k. This resulted in an early christmas for anyone who hooked up the $10.80, $5.60, $4.60 winners of races 6-8... the pick 3 came back $815, which is almost TWELVE TIMES what a parlay would've returned.

Thoughts on what happened here? A coup gone terribly wrong, or just some genius who accidentally bet the wrong track?

The exacta, trifecta and superfecta pools also were doubled for races 8 and 9.

I'm thinking that someone, or some group, had a very strong opinion for these two races. The sixth race pick 3 handled more than the sixth race super and almost as much as the trifecta.

The only constant that I see is that Donnie Meche rode both winners and both were favorites.

the other day at monticello a horse paid $3.10 win........$2.30 place .........and $10.20 show.........of course someone did a reverse bridgejump on a 90-1 shot for $2000!!!

i think the same guy was doing the same thing at freehold........he must have cleaned some bookmaker or betting exchange.
