View Full Version : Why the protestors?

Why are the prostestors trying to disrupt the Republican Convention? Do they not understand that they were not invited to this party? I didn't see protestors at the Obama coronation.

Republicans have enough class to let people with a different point of view have their little gathering without bothering them.

Why can't Democrats do the same? I guess they feel that their point of view is the only one that matters and if somebody disagrees with them, then they will try to ruin the convention.

I don't know. The Democrats just seem so mean-spirited.

There were protests at the Dem convention as well. It appears the police were much more aggressive at the Repug convention. I guess the Repugs felt more threatened

Why would anybody even want to waste their time crashing a meeting where the entire congregation is made up of people who oppose their point-of-view?

It's ridiculous, and besides, if they want to protest, they can do it here! :)

I guess protesting in D.C. is even more useless.
Hey why even say anything against those in government?
BTW, the last time I looked the repugs WERE the party in power.
Hopefully not for long

Maybe all these should have posted here?

Just imagine what Tom, Jr, Boxcar, and all the other PA high-fivers would do to all these "anti-american Dim/Commie Socialists"

Don't be a dork. There's nothing wrong with protesting. But it is rude to crash a party. If you want to protest, there are plenty of places you can do that without making a nuisance of yourself.

There were plenty of protesters in Denver. Seems to be the same bunch that just wants to get attention at any event. Doesn't seem to actually have anything to do with what the event is for -- they just want to protest (they protest the same stuff at both conventions). And the police used tear gas and everything, but maybe the media didn't want to report anything negative surrounding the DNC...

They tried to compare Denver's cells with Gitmo. That is the intellect of the protestors. The great unwashed, to quote Spiro Agnew.

I didn't see anything about protestors at the Democratic Convention. I guess it is true that the media wanted to show them in a better light. It's all positive reporting when Obama descended from the heavens and stood as a Greek God here to enlighten us.

Protestors get as much media time as the convention does when the Republicans are speaking. Not fair.

I don't have a problem with protesting, but the anarchist running amok assaulting people and destroying private property. I wish they'd try that crap out in front of Camp Pendleton. Where is the Ohio National Guard when you need them?

Not being welcome inside is kinda different than proresting outside. You have a pretty lame view of the "etiquette" of protest. I guess Martin Luther King was just a damned nuisance. As well as all those others who marched on DC against the Vietnam war in the 60s. Getting clubbed uppside the head while inhaling tear gas is certainly a new definition of making a nuisance of yourself.

Then there's Ron Paul and speaking of crashing a party. Looked like there more at Pauls' convention than McCains.

Ron Paul apparently DID crash the Party.

Grover Norquist showed up as well as Jesse Ventura

hcap, do you ever use your brains?
To compare that bunch of disgusting, drunk/high/morons protesting on day one of the DNC convention to Dr, King's protest is the height of not only complete ignorance, but a slap in the face of those who put their lives on the line back then for their basic civil right. You are a very disgusting, worthless individual. To compare the two shows total ignorance.

Were there any empty seats at the Republican convention Wednesday night?

The deck is so stacked against Republicans in terms of media coverage that if by some miracle Obama actually loses, the Democrats should just pack up their bags forever and call it a life. It would be that pathetic...

If "Palin is not a woman," I hate to think what that creature is. Part humanoid, and yet, part not.

"Nicole was videotaping. Her tape of her own violent arrest is chilling. Police in riot gear charged her, yelling, "Get down on your face." You hear her voice, clearly and repeatedly announcing "Press! Press! Where are we supposed to go?" She was trapped between parked cars. The camera drops to the pavement amidst Nicole's screams of pain. Her face was smashed into the pavement, and she was bleeding from the nose, with the heavy officer with a boot or knee on her back. Another officer was pulling on her leg. Sharif was thrown up against the wall and kicked in the chest, and he was bleeding from his arm."

Doesn't one single other person here see the irony of a "lady" who looks like that having the slogan "Palin is not a woman" printed on her dress?

I was going to make a reference to Bush's State of the Union, and his heroic stance against half-human/half-animal hybrids....one of which this pink dress thingy may well be.

But then I got to thinking about "Sarah Barracuda". A "pitbull with lipstick". Maybe this woman-thing in the pink dress is on to something. ;)

Thanks...er... chickenhead. I didn't see R's post because I posted mine from the page where the pic was on. Did not notice that there were more pages after that one until my post was already through.

I really can't control my curiousity any longer... why did you pick that for a handle? It certainly doesn't match the image or the mind!

If I'd known I was going to be hanging around this joint for years on end I probably would have put a little more thought into it, I thought I was just registering to ask a simple question about a horseracing book. We had a pet cockateil I called chickenhead (with an equal mix of disdain and endearment)...I happened to be looking at it when I was signing up. So it goes...

I guess if I cared I'd ask Mike to change it, but I figure it gives fair warning...as I can act a fool. Still tho, I wish I'd chosen something like "Mr. Majestyk" That would be way cooler.

What I love the most about chickenhead's name is a while back he sent me a note referring me to some people in my industry I might want to do business with. I researched them, loved what they did, and called. When they asked how I knew about them, my answer was:

"Some dude on a horseracing booad I post on told me about you. I don't know his name, but he calls himself chickenhead."

They didn't hang up on me and 2 1/2 years later they are one of my most important business relationships.
