SAR 9/1/08 R8 - Dynaforce

This marathon contest has Dynaforce as the 6:5 ML favorite. Bill Mott trained with KDES up.

What I seriously question is the final time for the 4th race back: 17Jul07 Vhy Turf 1 1/2 soft won by 1 1/2 lengths. The winning time for the race in the data I have from BRIS is 2:06. 2:06 is unreal for 12 furlongs.

Is the data flawed or am I just stupid?

The time is listed as 2:35 in DRF. Since it was a foreign race, the time is pretty meaningless anyway. You have to know how much the about symbol actually means. It can be a huge difference in Europe.

I assume you mean whether the course is left or right hand turns, etc.

I mean the races shows as * 1 1/2, or about 1 mile and a half. There distances are often hard to gauge as it is without the about symbol since rails are often moved around during a card. The same card can have mile races run and be 1/2 furlong or more different at times.

I was aware there were possible variations to the distance covered on a card but I didn't know those could be as much as 1/2 furlong.
