I just bought two gigs of ram for my laptop for $50. $25 per gig. That's pretty cheap, isn't it? At Best Buy it's $60.

I have to take out the two 512 sticks that are already in there and replace them with the two 1G sticks, which seems like a waste, but that's the only way to get it done.

Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com (http://www.crucial.com/)

Anyone have an idea what the same would have cost 10-15 years ago?

I found an article about the Apple 2 released in 1977 with 4KB of ram cost 1298.00.

Upgrade to 48KB of ram and the price goes to 2698.00

Anyone have an idea what the same would have cost 10-15 years ago?My first computer (1995-1997) was a 33mhz with a 1.2 gig hard drive, and 16 megs of ram. I upgraded to 48 megs of ram for $75. (Things were much faster after that too.)

Bill Gates was once quoted as saying that you would never need more than 8 megs of ram.
