How often has this ever happened before:
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Trainer Linda Rice accomplished an extremely rare feat Monday afternoon when she sent out the top four finishers in the $80,000 Mechanicville Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. Of the four, all New York-breds, three were fillies facing colts in the 5 1/2-furlong turf event.
Ahvee's Destiny came in first under John Velazquez for Everything's Cricket Racing, followed by Canadian Ballet, Silver Timber and Karakorum Elektra. Rice saddled a winning trifecta last November, when she sent Canadian Ballet, Sweet Bama Breeze and Noble Fire to finish 1-2-3 in the Fifth Avenue division of the New York Stallion Stakes.
"I kind of joked about it, but I thought it was wishful thinking we could be 1-2-3-4," Rice said. "But it sure feels good." The Rice-trained superfecta paid $3,490 on a $2 bet, but the trainer said she didn't place a wager.
Amazing none the less, congrats to Linda Rice.
