Year round racing?
Single track or maybe 2 track circuits.

So. Fla------Calder and Gulfstream

Philly------------Philly only, right?

Tampa Bay would be what? It is not So. Fla,, nor is it year round either?

Can you fill in the other 1 or 2 track circuits, that run all year round, please.

Thank you

Great Answer Mitch

But IT seems that only the following have Year Round Racing and are their own circuit, and they are:

CharlesTown

Philadephia

Penn National

Mountaineer

Those that come close are like

Calder for 8 months-- then Gulfstream for 4 months

Where do the horses from Tampa Bay go in the summer?

My objective here was to find single Circuit or just 2 track circuits for easier Handicapping purposes, but I see that may not be as easy I thought, thou the following tracks do offer value and the following betting info:

Philly:
Exotic Wagering Format

$2. Daily Double on 1st and 2nd; 3rd and 4th; 8th and 9th races.
$2. Exactas on all races.
$2. Rolling Pick 3's.
$2. Trifecta on all races.
$1. Superfecta on last race.

Takeout Information Win, place, and show: 17%
Daily Double and Exacta: 20%
Pick 3: 26%
Trifecta and Superfecta: 30%

Penn National
Exotic Wagering Format

$2. Daily Double on 1st & 2nd races and last 2 races.
$2. Exacta on all races.
$2. Trifectas on all races.
$2. Rolling Pick 3 beginning on 1st race.
$2. Pick 4 on races 3-6 and 6-9.
$2. Superfecta on 4th, 6th and last race.

Takeout Information Win, place, and show: 17%
Daily Double wagering: 20%
Exacta wagering: 22%
Trifecta and Superfecta wagering: 31%
Pick 3 wagering: 26%
Pick 4 wagering: 28%

CharlesTown
Exotic Wagering Format

$2. Win, place and show on all races.
$2. Daily Double on races 1-2, 2-3, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9 and 9-10.
$2. Exacta on all races.
$2. Pick 4 on races 4 through 7.
$2. Trifecta on all races except race 4.
$2. Superfecta on 3rd, 5th, 8th and last race.
$2. Pick 3 on races 7 through 9.
Takeout Information
Win, place, and show: 17.3%
Exacta wagering: 19%
Superfecta, Trifecta and Twin Trifecta wagering: 25%

Mountaineer
Exotic Wagering Format
$2. Daily Double on 1st and 2nd and last two races.
$2. Perfecta on all races.
$2. Trifecta on all races.
$2. Pick 3 on races 3-5 and 6-8.
$2. Superfecta on 5th and 10th races.

Takeout Information
Win, place, and show: 17.25%
Daily Double and Perfecta Wagering: 19%
Pick 3, Trifecta and Superfecta Wagering: 25%

Out of those it seems that Penn National and Charlestown cater better to the exotic wagerer , or at least providing more wagering opportunities.

Again thanks MitchS, but I still have a few questions left, but I will answer them thou.

Where did that info come from? Just curious. These things sometimes change but the changes don’t make it to all of the web pages. Probably get a better read on the wager types offered by looking at the free instant programs here http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/instant.cgi?type=inp or elsewhere. For instance, Charles Town has had doubles, tris and supers on ALL races for quite a while now but hasn’t had a twin trifecta for many years.

You may want to also consider the pool sizes of the various bets. CT has rolling doubles throughout the card now but a lot of people don’t fool with them because the pools are so small.

Also look at the takeouts of the various bets at the different tracks. Most of the takeouts on exotic bets at the tracks in Pennsylvania give new meaning to the word obscene.

Charlestown and philly park run all year.
Mountianeer and Penn national both had a brief break in early JAN. last year.

And I believe someone posted Tampa switches with Suffolk?

There are Calder horses that go to Tampa while Gulfstream runs. They tend to go back to Calder (at least before this past season). There are many others that from the around the east and midwest that also go down to Tampa for the winter, and they tend to go back home for the spring-summer-fall.

With today being the last day for BM, GGF will be picking up most of those race days.

Most Tampa horses go north. I tend to see a fair amount go to CBY, MNR, SUF, and not sure where else

This is where horses came from in their last race when racing at Tampa, since 1/1/2001. The number is the count of horses coming from that track. Lots of midwestern horses migrate down there:

Thanks Ron

Now that gives me an idea of where they come from, thus, giving me an Idea where they go back to.

Also with the closing of Bay Meadows does that mean that all Northern Cal
will be held at Golden Gate, except for a fair or two like Solano maybe?

Again Thanks

I haven't heard anything recently about what 2009 holds for Northern California racing. Maybe somebody has an update. Last I heard there was quite a bit of debate concerning who would pick up the BM hole in the racing calendar. There was talk of some of the fair tracks picking up some extra days, especially Pleasanton and Santa Rosa, possibly even sprinkling in a couple 2 week meets here and there. I imagine there's a deadline for applying for racing dates in 2009 looming fairly soon.

I don't recall what the parameters are, but any track that runs a certain number of days in California has to have a synthetic surface installed - this allows the Cal Fair tracks to continue running on dirt, as they don't have 5 to 10 million dollars lying around to switch. This influences who will pick up dates when and for how long

GGF is expected to pick up most of the BM dates but Pleasanton is expected to install a synthetic surface by 2010 and take over more dates.
