As I see more ridiculous quarter horse type races carded, for mature horses, at crazy distances like 2 and 4.5 furlongs, I scratch my head.

Dr. Roman has not entered a chef-de-race above a full classic in years now and the ONLY source of stamina left seems to be in European grass sires. Wasn't Run the Gauntlet the last North American stamina sire?

If breeders continue to leave out the balance of stamina in the blood lines, not only are breakdowns in these rapidly maturing light boned babies, going to increase, but there will be no runners left for the classic distances.

BEST GUESSES ARE BETTER THAN COMPLETE GUESSES. Randomness from a source means that the MAJORITY of the offsrping will not get the traits, not all of them.

You and the other catachresis fan should learn how to spell HYPOcrite

the delivery of genes is random, always has been always will be
IF those genes are from a source with the POTENTIAL for some of them to make certain phenotype, the odds are that over the millions of ova and sperm a very few will in fact carry the alleles that make a difference.

Breeders should breed for STAMINA, because 1 out of 8 Million of them will carry the alleles for a certain phenotype. Meiosis maternal madagascar melanin monogamous lobotomy.
" At synchrotron light sources, electron beams make floods of x rays which must be tamed before they can be used in experiments where typically they probe the structure of some tiny biological sample. "

Getting back to the original purpose of this thread, there are several reasons that stamina is being bred out of the thoroughbred. First, it is expensive to get into owning horses and stamina laden horses usually take longer to come to hand. People are looking for a quick return on their money. Second, it does not take as much talent on the part of the trainer to get a horse to sprint. Finally, racing secretaries are not writing long races as they are not filling. This is becoming a self fulfilling prophacy.

Favorites are therefore random,uh? The majority of favorites lose.
Best fit to the E/L graph are random, huh? The majority lose.
Maidens leading at the second call are random, huh? The majority lose.

Zilly - every single type of winner you post is random by your own words.
Zilly, all of your winners are random, unless you can show you win 51% of them.
