That was a nice story MAG. We should, as a group, start mass mailing these idiots (MNR) 50 times a day as a group. It may not get the message across, but will play havac on their servers. Piss on them.
I will say this though, I have sent several emails to Pinnacle here in Michigan and I actually get responses. I don't always get the response I want however I get them. Not left in the dark. MNR and other tracks need to take a look at what these guys are doing. They may learn something.

Another story that is well related to the one posted here is this one:

those are great post's by great fans of this sport. i can sort of sum this up by saying that years ago before lotteries and cassino's horseracing was the only sport in town. so the racetracks had a very captive audience. today there is alot of competition for those that require the need for this type of entertainment. the truth of the matter is the standards have not been kept up to the times and need changes in a big way.

i know that some venues are trying real hard, but they find it tough without a commision that governs the sport.

if you go to japan the sport is flourishing. i suggest that someone with some leadership qualities flys over there and see how a succesful operation is run.

There is obviously quite a bit of blame to go around concerning horse racing's demise and track management and ownership should absorb some of the blame, but let me say one thing, and this is coming from years of experience wagering at different racetracks and otb's across the country. HORSE RACING FANS ARE THE BIGGEST CRYBABYS ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH.

I can go to any message forum, any racetrack, any otb, anywhere that has anything to do with racing, and it won't be long until a fan complains about a fixed race, bad service, prices through the roof, etc....

I would bet anyone that if takeouts were all zero, programs and concessions and parking and admission were all free, and everyone gets a $20 voucher upon entering a racetrack, the bitching would still be the same.

The other day, someone at my local haunt was in an uproar because they had to pay $3.50 for a 20oz beer. Ever been to a ballgame?? $8.00 a beer?? No complaints ever about that tho. No message boards about slot machines at casinos stealing your money at every spin.

Of course track management isn't perfect, and some just plain stink. But when people blog and moan every day about this and that, it just gets old. If it's really that bad, then maybe some people should consider a hobby change.

Of course many have done just that. Horse players don't complain more than anyone else. Of course people complain about $8 beers at the games. Maybe if racing had less things to complain about, bettors wouldn't seem so bad.

Also, this isn't just a hobby to some people.

You Sir are obviously not a Poker Player. I am and have been for many years. The biggest Cry Babies are Poker Players. We get comped free meals, hotel rooms and drinks. The takeout (rake) on the game is usually 10% of the first few dollars that go into the pot. Normally less than 4% of a small $100 pot won and 1% of games involving higher stakes. We are treated like Royalty and yet most complain about everything. Even tipping a dealer which just dealt them a multi thousand dollar pot. As a player, I can tell when an opponet is on a bad run by how much they whine and will needle them just to put them on a cry baby TILT.

Horse Players have reasons to whine a little, considering the disrespect they get from management, the take outs and no comps. This is more than my humble opinion. This is fact.

This also the reason I only play one track and the Classics anymore. I used to play the horses a Hell of a lot more than I do today for all the reasons above. Track Management has driven my play to another Hobby over the years. That's another fact.

I think Trackman Sam is way off. There are numerous problems at tracks and simulcast facilities. Many have reason to complain. Customer service is an exception not the rule. The customers/patrons of racing are clearly treated poorly compared to casino gamblers. Not sure what planet he is on.

Personally, I think Track Man Sams name says it all. He is typical track managemnt looking through Rose Colored Glasses. He represents the reason why present track managemnt will never solve Horse Racings problem. He can't see the forest for all the trees.

I knew my previous post was going to draw quite a negative response. That's ok. I am just of the opinion that if you don't like the service at a place, you just don't go there anymore.

Bruddah, It's not my job to look at anything through rose-colored glasses. I don't have a job in this industry, I am a gambler just like most here. But every race track I have been to, and I mean every one (from Saratoga to Lebanon Harness) there is at least 2 or 3 people that you can hear saying ahhhh screw this place. I have never said "screw this place" and then came back the next day.

All I want to do when I get to a track is buy a program and bet (and maybe have an occasional beer or two) and I have never had a problem. If I have a problem with a place, and it's not taken care of to my satisfaction, I won't come back. It's as simple as that. I just can't understand why its not that simple for other people.

There will always be plenty to complain about as long as tracks keep the mentality of trying to hide everything. If the powers that be were really serious about fixing this game we wouldn’t still have suspended trainers running their stables in other people’s names. We also wouldn’t have many of the dumb betting rules that serve only to fleece players out of extra breakage.

The fact is that horseplayers have done a lot more than whined of late, they have left the game.

In case you haven't noticed it, a game that should be growing as it becomes more and more available to every household in the Western world is dwindling.
