Harness tracks range in size from 1/2 mile to over a mile and the stretches come in various widths. Consequently, some tracks may start from 7 to 10 horses across behind the gate with extra horses starting in a second tier. As Post position is such an important factor in harness handicapping, I was wondering if there is a website out there that tells us poor bettors how many horses across the various tracks start in the first tier. Also, it would be handy if one site told us the post time for the various harness tracks without me having to download various simulcast schedules and trying to piece together a days betting agenda. Thanks to anyone who can contribute any ideas. :bang:

It has helped them greatly, all of these fairs in Maine are 1/2 milers with short stretches.I don't think any wagering is accepted off track however, so you won't have the opporotunity to bet on them.

I live a reasonable distance from Fryeburg. (A day at Scarborough while on vacation actually got me hooked on harness racing - which is pretty amazing since the track was depressingly dead.)

I was thinking about checking Fryeburg out. My theory is that a lot of fair goers are pretty clueless when it comes to harness racing, and that there might be a lot of stupid money.

Scarborough was depressing, visited it in 2004.Almost all 1/2 milers are depressing for wagering purposes.

How big is Fryeburg?

I actually prefer 1/2 milers. For some reason, I do better with them.

Almost every fair track in every state are 1/2 milers incuding Frysberg. It's tough to get any value on the 1/2, and impossible to turn a profit over the long run.

I have recently been watching Plainridge again, and am excited about the payoffs there recently.I may very well turn my interest there, now that the BigM is closed.

I've never understood Plainridge's schedule. 4:00pm and 1:00pm post times on weekdays only? There must be a very large senior center nearby. ;)
