Our meet tally so far based on $ 2 win wagers and $ 1 exactas:

Wagered: $ 223.00 Returned: $ 417.50 Profit: $ 194.50 Return On Investment: +0.87 or $ 87%

Rain curtailed the Friday Saratoga card after the second race. So, look for a track with some moisture in it and the grass races are up in the air. We like the day's races though.

RACE 2: Wide open 2 yr. old clash and many contenders. Don't shy away from these unknown events. Just go with your info and instincts. And most importantly, set a betting line. We list our contenders in order of preference and acceptable win wager odds.

# 3 POSSE- Bill Mott has gotten off to a icy start here (1 win out of 27) but he is a Hall of Famer . Plus, he can pop a firster with no problem. Like the wet breeding in grand sire Corporate Report. (4/1)

# 4 IN SPEIGHT OF IT - Prado signs up with Ritvo. Colt had troubles in his debut but should be seasoned with that. Has early pedigree with Speightstown. (5/1)

# 1 ROCKETING RETURNS/ # 1A MIAMI HAMMER- Nick Zito combo and both have potential for early success. Zito works them steady albeit unspectacular. (6/1)

# 2 FLYING PRIVATE- If this horse ever gets out of his way and avoids trouble, we may be able to see his true potential. Lukas saddles and Theriot rides. A race over Saratoga is worth a few points. (8/1)

# 8 YORE- The Yes It's True breeding is known for popping early. Bridgmohan who is smoking is on the mount. May surprise from the outside post. (9/1)
** *****

RACE 4: The James Marvin Stakes draws a talented bunch. # 3 ETERNAL STAR has won stakes in Philly and Delaware. Loves the wet going and Dominguez has won with him before. Bruce Levine ships in the sharp # 6 CALLMETONY. The veteran 7 year old knows how to win at this distance and may surprise at a price.

PLAY: Win bet on # 3 at 3/1 and win bet on # 6 at 5/1. Exacta # 7 over the 3, 6.
****

RACE 6: Questionable which surface this race will be run at so we come prepared for any any scenario. For grass, we like the # 9 FERMI. Clement excels with second tryers on the turf and this one deserves a look with Theatrical as his grandsire. If the race is sent to the dirt, we have a couple of potentials. # 4 VOLPONI DRAGON may handle a wet track and we like Tagg on the dirt. # 10 STRATEGIC VISSION did horrible last out in the slop but the traffic trouble was his undoing.Strategic Mission is a solid wet sire and Bridgmohan sees fit to take the mount for the low-key trainer James Day.

PLAY: (Grass) Win bet on # 9 at 4/1 or higher. (Dirt) Win wager on # 4 at 5/1 or higher. Win bet on # 10 at odds of 8/1 or better.
*****
RACE 7: If this stakes race remains on the grass, we are looking at a very competitive field. # 1 OSSUN is one of two Mott horses and this one should go off at the heftier price. The filly ships over from France and worked well at Saratoga. # 3 LICKETY LEMON is from Casse and Bridgmohan. Ignore these guys at your own peril. Has an outstanding closing kick. # 6 ARMONK is trying the grass for the first time and is bred to like it. Clement is in charge so we are confident. # 8 CLOSEOUT is our top pick on ablility and ships in for Thomas Proctor from Ellis Park.

PLAY: (Grass only) Win bet acceptable odds. # 1 (7/1) , # 3 (9/1) , # 6 (8/1) , # 8 (9/2). Exacta # 5 over the 1, 3, 6, 8.
****

RACE 8: Have a nice second time starter play for you. # 9 NAUTICAL STORM stumbled at the break but still finished decently in debut. D Wayne is proficient with the second go round. The outside post was playing well early in the meet. Storm Cat as a sire suggests the ability to win early.

PLAY: Win bet on # 9 at odds of 5/1 or higher.
*****

RACE 9: Where is the speed? Not much here. # 5 MR. UNIVERSE had early speed highs at first two calls. Goes from route to sprint and James Jerkens may get his first Spa win in 2008. # 7 SMART HIT. Ships in from Cali for Bruce Levine and this gelding has experience with 4 wins out of 15 tries on the dirt. Likes the 7F distance too.

PLAY: Win on # 5 and # 7 at odds of 5/1 and up.
****

RACE 10: # 3 SARATOGA LULLABY is our top choice. Bruce Levine has this colt ready for prime time and we like the versatility the horse has shown. Last out, he won a race with tactical speed and we think this strategy will play well here. # 2 DEPUTY INDY will be closing like a freight train. Stanley Hough does extremely well in non-graded stakes.

PLAY : Win bet on # 3 at odds of 4/1 or higher. Win wager on # 2 at odds of 6/1 and better. Exacta 5,6,7 over the 2,3.
***

RACE 11: If they run it on grass, we like the chances of # 10 DANGEROUS DUDE. Michael Matz is 19% with second time on the grass. A switch to dirt and our interest heads to the # 12 WHITLEY who is an also-eligible. Menifee is an underrated mud sire.

PLAY: (Grass) Win bet on # 10 at odds of 6/1 or better. (Dirt) Win on # 12 at odds of 6/1 and up.

Peace,
Joe Kelley
