There's this myth going around that oil prices are high all over the world. It's not actually true (there are a few places where it is much lower than in so-called "civilized" countries)... anyway, while researching for a project I am working on, stumbled across this.

Interesting bit of 1920's prophecy, but I'm sure they never thought we'd see the sort of prices we're seeing now, at least not within 100 years.

Technically, oil is now in a bear market (and it took less than one month to get there.... )

It's interesting that oil dropped about $30 per barrel at around the same time interest swelled and public discourse grew in expanding off-shore drilling in the USA.

Imagine what would happen if Congress actually passed a bill? You'd be looking at $70-$80 per barrel by 2009.

I think we should all thank George Bush for using the "D" word that started he dropping prices. Apparently, we CAN drill our way out of this, although Obama thinks we should TAX our way out!

I paid $3.82 yesterday.

THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!

Meanwhile in Turkmenistan it is cheaper to fill up your SUV than the family camel. Average is around 0.04 per gallon.

How do you like your camels? With one hump or two?

I'm no expert at camel riding, but I would guess that two humps makes for a smoother ride. Just don't get a camel with Firestone hooves.
