Lots of rain is forecast for the Saratoga Springs area so there may be several scratches and no turf. But we are troopers and move on to handicap the first card on the third week of racing at the Spa.
RACE 1: # 7 HARD MOONSHINE has been steadily improving in his last 3 races. Takes a short respite and makes his longest start to date. Contessa has done well at Saratoga with this move to a longer route. The wet breeding is average but the third place finish last out in the slop reassures.
PLAY: Let's grab 3/1 or higher on win bet on # 7.

RACE 2: Oh how the mighty have fallen. # 6 TANGANYIKA was purchased for $ 450K back in the day and now makes an appearance for 45K maiden claimers. Maybe the Peachtree Stables wants a photo op in the winner's circle. Clement saddles with Alan Garcia aboard. We still like this trainer's capabilities in MSW drop to MCL. But we will demand a price.

RACE 6: This state-bred maiden race is really lacking in quality. None of the runners with multiple performances can run to the early speed pars. Thus, we look deeper into the field. # 7 NARRATION is a fresh Serpe runner whose sire wins at 18% first asking. The grand sire Fort Chaffee has good wet breeding. Here's a flyer: Howard Tesher can hit with a bomber with first time lasix and this applies to # 4 SLAMMIN'LOU.
