Sorry for the late sendout. But knackered from deejaying a block party on Saturday. Hope your day at Saratoga was fun and profitable. Sunday’s card is exciting and we have some nice plays for you. Congratulations to Indian Blessing who dominated the Test G1. Outstanding.

RACE 1: (Grass only) Usually we would shy away from # 2 IMPRESSIONISM for the win spot. Loves to finish second (4 out of nine times on the turf). But we have some reasons to think today is the day for a revisit to the winner’s circle. Johnny V is back in the saddle again for Shug. The filly loves the Saratoga turf and the # 2 post on the inner should be advantageous. # 4 LOCATA debuted in Delaware with a grass win and we always like a comeback with a horse who did something well at first try. Nice closing punch too. Motion and Dominguez are two of our faves.

PLAY: Let’s get 4/1 or better on the # 2 and # 4 for a win bet.

RACE 3: We see a vulnerable favorite in the # 1 SIGHTSEEING. Always skeptical of horses that have graded stakes wins in their resumé and then race in allowance or claiming tilts. Horse hasn’t won since May 2007. Kinda like your baseball team signing an older player who used to be an All-Star but when you get them on your team, you realize the best days are in the rear view mirror. So, we look elsewhere. # 4 PAST THE POINT whose name kind of symbolizes what I just typed. This horse has the main speed and could wire the field. Has a placing at Saratoga. Love the pattern and proficiency of works. 2 for 2 in the money at the mile and an eighth distance. John Velasquez and Eoin Harty should team to take this one.

PLAY: Win wager on # 4 at 3/1 and up.
*****

RACE 5 : Pretty contentious maiden route race so we will look for some nice overlays. # 2 FOREST ECHOES showed career best early speed with the addition of blinkers last out. McLaughlin is 22% with a sprint-sprint-route pattern and we are confident with Alan Garcia in the reins. # 1 SKILLS COACH is an improving colt who has relished the stretchout to longer distances. Underrated trainer Mike Maker has claimed this horse and bumped him up twice which is a sign that he feels the horse has talent and doesn’t want to lose him.

PLAY : Win bets on # 1 and # 2 at 5/1 or higher.
*****

RACE 6 : (Grass only) : Mark Casse shops down with another potential victor in # 9 KEWLAND. Two races on the synthetic with some early pop. Has shown some nice works since. Has an outside post in this turf sprint. That is the blueprint for success.

PLAY : Don’t settle for less than 5/1 on a win wager on # 9.
******

RACE 7 : (Grass only). # 9 MELISSA’S DREAM has enough ability at this level to win. Get this : Michael Maker is 32% second off a claim. Nothing to sniff at. The July 14th work shows this filly is sharp and sitting on a big performance. # 10 MPENZI is trying the turf for the 39th time and Ramon Dominguez is in the reins (he wins 30% of his grass races).

PLAY : Win bet on # 9 at odds of 4/1 or higher. Win on # 10 at 8/1 or higher. Exacta wagers 1, 6 over the 9, 10.
*****

RACE 8 : You have to be able to identify biases and right now the outside posts are doing well in 6F sprints. # 10 CT PHONE HOME goes for Linda Rice who can bring them back after extended vacations. # 2 GOLDEN MANNA is our longshot pick ( 0 for 15 at the distance but we like the turnback and class drop).

PLAY : # 10 win bet at 3/1 or better. Demand 8/1 odds for a win wager on # 2.
*****

RACE 9 : (Grass Only) Very contentious race in the 4StarDave. Remember class is paramount in Graded Stakes. # 1 RED GIANT is a G2 winner and 2 for 2 at the distance. # 4 THORN SONG has a G3 under his belt and loves the Spa. # 5 DANAK has a G3 win and McLaughlin training now. # 8 DISTORTED REALITY the other Pletcher horse has always been competive in this condition and Coa has won with this horse. # 9 COSMONAUT is a G3 winner with the danger Leparoux threatening to wire this field. # 10 INCA KING is a G3 victor but will need to take it up several notches to beat these older horses. # 11 ELUSIVE FORT is a G1 winner and has the Mig in the irons.

PLAY : Whew, that is a lot of potentials so let’s make sure we get value on our win wagers. Here are our odds: # 1 ( 5/1), # 4 (9/2), # 5 (5/1) , # 8 (8/1), # 9 (4/1) , # 10 ( 12/1), # 11 (8/1) .
****

RACE 10 : # 4 BREAK POINT AND # 5 OVERANDABEAUTY have both been racing in better company. Have speed and can contend.

PLAY : Win bets on # 4 and # 5 at odds of 9/2 and better. Exacta 1, 3 over the 4, 5
***

RACE 11 : (Grass only) We love the # 1 CONDAMINE. Motion and Dominguez . # 5 HINT. Bombs away with this John Morrison debuter (25% at debut turf JM).

PLAY : # 1 win bet at odds of 3/1 or higher. You get 12/1 or better on # 5 and plunk a deuce down.

Peace,
Joe Kelley
