Taskbar format

I got a two line task bar area somehow and can't get it back to a single line.
How do you change it? The arrows to drag the boundary do not.

1. Right-click just under the word "Start" and select "unlock the taskbar."

2. Grab the top of the taskbar and pull it downward to shorten the height.

unlock it and drag to the right..........see if that does it too........

if you have too many items in the quick launch it will do that to
