Seems last few Saratoga meets have had weather extremes in the first week. Last year, we were blessed with sunshine and full fields for most of the meet. Year before, rain galore and short fields. Yesterday, no turf races but most of the races stayed on the full side.

We were able to capture the Schuylerville Graded Stakes with a $ 26.40 winner in Jardin. Had to lay patient and wait for the “other” Asmussen horse to score with a big win. So, hope you jumped aboard our pick and had a profitable day like us. Let’s try to keep the party movin’ on day 2. No turf and more rain but we are ready.

RACE 9- Future Kentucky Derby winner in the making. Hmmm? Time will tell. Wouldn’t it be nice to sweep the first two Graded Stakes of the meet. We are going to take a stand and back heavily two colts:

# 3 DESERT PARTY who ships up from Arlington Park and is trained by Eoin Harty and ridden by Edgar Prado. Since his debut win Desert Party has worked consistently and like a champion. The colt brushed the gate last and was in the 10 post. Today things are easier with an inside start.

# 1 OFFICER IPOD. Dominguez and Anthony Dutrow enter with this talented 2 yo. Colt. Should be right up front and we love those Delaware Park shippers.

PLAY: Win bets on # 1 and 3 if odds are 4/1 or better.

Other races of interest on the 7/24/08 card:

RACE 2- Two-year old MSW filly state-breds. The likely fave will be the # 5 RED SEVEN who has shown speed in her first two races. Dominguez rides in place of Johnny V. We think this horse is better slotted for the second place and will try to beat her with 2 fillies:

# 2 TOUGH BUT FAIR. We are gunning for a state-bred score from Scott Schwartz and Castellano is on the mount. 7/1 or up will get a win bet.

# 3 STUNNING ELECTRA. Second time out and Bridgmohan and Asmussen look to hook up again in the winner’s circle. Asmussen is great with 2nd or 3rd place finishers last out. Demand 7/2 or better.

PLAY: Win bets on # 2 and # 3 and exacta box of 2, 3 with # 5, 1.

RACE 3- Speed on a sloppy track is king at Saratoga. # 7 PELILIU has been working like gangbusters at the Spa. Should be in the lead for a half-mile and may be able to carry this Wesley Ward filly to the top spot. Take 5/1 odds or better.

PLAY: Win bet on # 7 and exacta box # 6 and 7.

Joe Kelley
