Here's how Americans think Congress is doing with its supposed "mandate":

Congressional Performance
Congressional Approval Falls to Single Digits for First Time Ever

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

Last month (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america_archive/congressional_ratings_hit_all_time_lows_30_say_mos t_in_congress_corrupt), 11% of voters gave the legislature good or excellent ratings. Congress has not received higher than a 15% approval rating since the beginning of 2008.

I post this especially for all the guys and gals who love to post the Bush approval rating numbers, but curiously, never post the numbers for the Democratically controlled Congress.

I, for one, knew they couldn't stack sh*t that high. So I'm not surprised.

Yeah, but those dismal ratings are Bush's fault 'cause he just keeps bulldozing Congress into making decisions it doesn't really want to make. :D

No, no, hcap - we are talking about actually doing things, not what people think about them.

Can you function without a poll?

boy they loaded up the congress with democrats. look what you have, a strong disaproval rating. they better not elect anymore democrats, they only have a little bit more than half the seats in that whore house, imagine what the disapproval rating would be if there were no republicans in that place, those numbers would be way off the richter scale, thank god for republicans they are gonna bring us to the promised land, they always do! herbie hoover, and nixon, and the bush boys

After the 2006 elections I seem to remember that the liberals here were laughing and scratching. We're gonna change the world now that we are in charge or something similar. It must be Bush's fault.....yeah that's it! Just wait till Osama/bama is in charge....then we will REALLY change the world. And the beat goes on.

A new attack would qualify as "change."

You gentlemen bring up the approval ratings of Congress all the time.

PA quoted from Rasmussen-the house polling organ for the repugs.
Whenever we Commie/pinko/socialist/libs memtion just how badly the preznit is doing youse guys say the congress-as a whole is rated worse.

Well you are correct bunkies as the new poll indicates-and as others in the past have-when you break it down-the repugs of congress are rated worse.

Approve---Disapprove

I admit nothing to write home about, but I just thought I would set the record straight.
Bush-28%
Repugs in Congress-25%

Bush finally comes out ahead in this poll :D

Don't blame the people for the brain-dead media.
Go out and talk to people and you not find Wolf Blitzer's agenda or Jack Cafferty's midless obsessions.

Democrats don't have 60 Senators so the Republican prez still holds the hammer.

But don't let facts get in the way. Bash away. The Dems haven't done anything with control of Congress since 2006.

I got it. If only I was brain dead....

A mandated 12 year phaseout of incandescent light bulbs! Don't tell me this group has not been busting their collective humps. No telling how much prime rib and cabernet was consumed after that one passed. Plus there was the heavy lifting of naming bridges, buildings, or airports after people. As long as congress restricts itself to stuff like that, I call it a successful year.

Right on Boris.
And today, with banks failing, housing going south, oil going thorugh the roof, jobs heading overseas, our borders broken, what is Congress doing?

Investigating Ashcroft for alleged "tough interogation" tactics * that prevented more terror attacks!

This congress is a disgrace to this nation and the largest collection of totally useless morons every collected. Why oh why did we stop Flt 94?

There is no need for a majority by either party, house or senate. If the President doesn’t like an existing law, he ignores it. If the President doesn’t like new laws passed by Congress, instead of vetoing them he prepares a "signing statement," which says that he will determine what the law means. That’s pretty much how we stand now after 7.5 years of the Bush admin. Electing a Democratic Congress in 2006 did not make any difference.

sure it did. It set Nancy and Harry up to look like the fools they are. The so called "worst president in history" has walked all over them and revealed them to their own constituency. Reid and Pelosi............. now reside in the same arena as Abbott and Costello..........except Abbott and Costello had higher approval ratings..............

Did you see her interview with Wolfie on CNN tonight?

Some thoughts:

1. She is dumber than dirt
2. She is uglier than dirt.
3. She is dumber than dirt.
4. Finally, someone makes Wolfie look smart.

She would need to go to night school to upgrade to Bimbo.

I just heard an interview with an Investors Business Daily Editor who says they are working on an article/editorial about how Nancy Pelosi is most responsible for stopping any further drilling anywhere in the Country. She laid out the reasons that speculators are being supported by Pelosi and this is costing as much as 20-30 dollars a barrel in the oil market. In the interview she drew direct relationships between Bush removing the off shore oil executive order ban and the growing call for more drilling as to the reason speculators are starting to get shaky, and the oil price dropping this last week.

The editor laid out how Pelosi is in the pocket of her constituents that own homes and land in the San Francisco area. Many along the coast etc. One of her most lucrative relationships is with the Trial Lawyers Association. IBD relates this directly to the lawyers wanting to maintain their hold on possible future legal action against the oil companies.

She ended the interview by listing reasons why one person should not have so much control over such a large part of the American Economy. She also implied that they may call for Pelosi to resign. I doubt that goes anywhere. IBD has a respected Editorial page, but Pelosi is entrenched.

Criticism of Democrats is required, especially the party’s congressional leadership, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. They’re right, of course, to say that a madam, Madame Nancy Pelosi, is now presiding over the House of Representatives as Speaker. Madams have presided over whorehouses for ages, and it is appropriate that the House of Representatives should have its first madam. But the madam of a whorehouse is decidedly less dangerously violent than recent inhabitants of the White House have been.

Many appear to be afflicted with the view that the "Democrat Party" (they always say "Democrat," never "Democratic Party," even when Democrat party doesn’t fit grammatically) have never inhabited the White House. The exception to this insanity is dead Democrats. Literally, the neocons think the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat. Dead Democrats are the only heroes a neocon will ever cite. Many Neocons won’t even extol the principles of Reagan any more, because his stated principles stand in too great a contrast with the Bush regime’s principles. If Reagan were alive today he would have some funny stories about this crowd, much better than Laurel and Hardy. :)

But don't let facts get in the way. Bash away. The Dems haven't done anything with control of Congress since 2006.Not true. The Dem controlled Senate just voted overwhelmingly (69-28) to pass the revised FISA bill, hailed by the Bush White House as a "vital intelligence Bill (which) will allow our national security professionals to quickly and effectively monitor the plans of terrorists outside the United States, while respecting the liberties of the American people".

You remember that bill....that's the one you guys told us was anti-American and anti-US Constitution...the one that was stripping us of our rights...

And yet, your Dem-controlled Congress PASSED it with FLYING COLORS!

Imagine that?

Pelosi Stands Firm Against Offshore Drilling

Upon entering Congress in 1987, Representative Nancy Pelosi quickly became part of the solid California front against oil drilling along much of the nation's coast.

The 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill and the steady push to tap the potential reserves off the state's rugged coast had galvanized Californians and made opposition to offshore drilling part of the political DNA of up-and-coming figures like Pelosi.

She repeatedly resisted oil drilling in marine sanctuaries off the state's coast near her San Francisco district and, after joining the Appropriations Committee, was an advocate of reinstating the coastal drilling ban through spending restrictions each year.
