Seems like something reached at Calder. However, why no ADW deal? It seems odd to me that they get this done, and they can still send the signal to a track or two here, and I think offshore ADW's, but no domestic ones?

Signing of the contracts would clear the way for the Florida HPBA to permit Calder to send its signal to racetracks outside Florida. But the two contracts apparently would not result in Calder being able to send its signal to and take bets from advance deposit wagering companies.

The national Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Group is negotiating Calder’s contracts with ADWs. Since Calder opened its meet April 21, six New York state off-track betting corporations are the only ADWs the Florida HBPA has permitted to take Calder’s signal.

The signal blackouts, which include horsemen in eight states not sending signals to Calder, have led to a decline of more than 70% year-to-date in Calder’s all-sources handle. Amid that drop-off, Calder has reduced average overnight purses 30% and cut purses for most of its stakes.

It just gets dumber and dumber.

I can understand CDI/Calder's desire to get more distribution of its "Summit of Speed" signal because that is a big deal for their summer meet with some big purses (and maybe some guaranteed pools if it's like past years) and it (Calder) means more to CDI now that CD is dark for the summer. But, with lot's of other summer venues in full swing and with players concentrating on those venues, Calder will not recapture that audience anytime soon from simulcast sites without ADW's in the mix.

I have enjoyed the "Summit of Speed" cards in the past (last year the weather didn't cooperate) but I will not drive up to Virginia to the Colonial Downs OTB just to play Calder.

these guys allow the signals to go to the offshore guys that pay no state taxes, and have a way to beat the system. they open up with a pad of paper and a pencil,
rent a room, put a few phones in and hire phone operators at cheap hourly rates.
the onshore people people got to invest millions to run their websites, and do some good for the industry. and yet they have to fight to get the signal's. the offshore guys wind up doing the bulk of the total racing handles, and laugh at the rest because they have the edge over the onshore guys.

anyone heard of batchbetting, the offshores specialise in it, ask berube in tampa, that's why he don't give the tampa signal to them. he feels they are no good for the industry in the long run, even with their huge handles. the good people from the tracknet have no problem with that at all. they open up their signals to the offshore's with open arms. they charge less to them, than what other adw's are offering them for their signals.

Screw Calder - they can send their signal straight to the toilet and flush it.

I have not been able to bet or see a calder race in quite some time now.

Do they get enough on-track wagering to stay afloat?

They always had the best races, like running the "Fastest Daily Double" or "The reverse stakes". I miss that!
