TVG listed final race winner HopeHopeHope as paying 12, 928.00
The actual payout was 12,827.80
Anyone have any thoughts on why there is about a 100 dollar difference?
Seems odd.

could be one person used the winner of the last race as an alternate at the track and wound up with six. I believe one or 2 more winning tickets would not change the pool due to the enormous size

Although I didn't check for sure, I would assume it was because of the late scratch of the 7 horse and folks at tracks in California being allowed to select an alternate horse in the event of a late scratch, which could have then resulted in additional winning tickets than the number which had previously been indicated. I'm reasonably sure the late scratch of the 7 in some way affected the projected return....

Before the hapless late scratch of the 7 in the 11th, Youbet had the "will pay" as $25,856. No shortage of folk upset at that late scratcharoo.

The bet increased by 2 winners, from 255 to 257 (approx)
There were 257 winning tickets.
The winner was 10-1, so no one who had the 7 horse was put onto this horse.
I guess the 'alternate' scenario is possible, that the only thing that makes sense.
