I asked about 2009 horses.

Who are this years 2yr olds that we need to be watching?

What horses are 1st time breeders this year that we may have good prospects from?

The stakes schedule for 2yr olds is from this link , I think

http://sports.yahoo.com/rah/news?slug=082yoraces&prov=st&type=lgns

Does this leave any out, maybe B/C Juv, but when do we get to see next years Triple Crown horses start their campaign?

What is the gossip about this year which million dollar horse is this years Favorite?

I mean 2008 is over , onto 2009, right? Giddy-up Y'all

The top 2 year old will not likely hit the track as a 2 year old.

Man of Iron is the top of the 2 y/o class. He was born to run real real fast. Barring injury, bank that fact.

He is Casino Drive's, Jazil's, and Rags to Riches' second newest little brother from the same mama, Better Than Honor.

Better Than Honor has also foaled another colt (1 y/o), yet to be officially named.

Anyone who would discount this mares offspring as anything but the best has been on a 4 year vacation deep in the Amazon jungle.

This is probably one of the silliest, most ill-informed posts ever on the board. I'll let you figure out why.

It would seem you are the clueless Luke here CJ.

1st> Man of Iron is two years old (foaled in 2006).
2nd> He is the best of his year, though he may not race at 2 years old.
3rd> He is 1/2 sibling to the other horses mentioned, and Better Than Honor is the mother of them all.
4th> You've evidently been on that 4 year vacation to the Amazon jungle CJ.

Maybe you should try coming up with some objective material for the thread CJ instead of just running your Dutrow style mouth.

Don't hate me because some simple reseach has me on top of the best ones before you've even heard of them. That's your inadequacy.

Anything but the best? Wake up. RTR was top class, Jazil won the Belmont but otherwise was rather ordinary and all CD did was win a race in Japan and win the Peter Pan against a very weak field.

Now, CJ, don't be worrying because you don't know your horses. Just listen to the pig-man. Pig-man knows all. If you don't believe it, ask him.

I resemble that mark, slightly, but do not really know all.

Now I am pretty sure the comment was not for me, but the post was not to get y'all at each others throat either, it was to help me begin my 2009 Derby Watch, truly it was.

I am having trouble locating 2yr olds on that trail, maybe I'm too soon, but I do not know that, I figured you guys on here would no doubt know this info, maybe I was wrong, and it was too early to ask.

Here is a link to an article from June 7, 2008:

http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Sports/227961/

Excerpt: Four years after running his last race, sons and daughters of near-Triple Crown winner Smarty Jones are about to run their first race. The group includes Hey Smarty, owned and bred by Kaaren Biggs of Springdale and trained by Steve Wren of Prescott... “He’s gorgeous,” Wren said. “Good God, he’s gorgeous.”

pt,

The comment had nothing to do with you.

DS,

Now that you made yourself look even stupider, I'll tell you why. The horse you mentioned had already run. You said he probably wouldn't "hit the track" this year.

Second, you said how good he would be. He was absolutely dreadful. Now, it doesn't mean he can't improve, but as far as "being on top of the best ones", ummm....enough said.

"Man of Iron to make debut at Curragh Friday

Man of Iron, a Giant’s Causeway colt out of 2007 Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour, will make his career debut on Friday in the first race at the Curragh.

The two-year-old chestnut is a half brother to consecutive Belmont Stakes (G1) winners Jazil (2006), by Seeking the Gold, and Rags to Riches (‘07), by A.P. Indy.

Man of Iron, who was bred in Kentucky by Shell Bloodstock, is owned by Derrick Smith and trained by Aidan O’Brien. He will be ridden by Colm O’Donoghue when he meets 14 opponents in the seven-furlong turf test.

Better Than Honour is also the dam of undefeated Peter Pan Stakes (G2) winner Casino Drive, by Mineshaft, who was scratched from this year’s edition of the Belmont with a bruised hoof.

The 12-year-old Deputy Minister mare also has a yearling by Giant’s Causeway. She will not be bred in 2008 after losing her A.P. Indy foal late in term."

Dr.SS> 1st, your son seemed to be doing fine on his own Dad.

2nd> I was unaware that Man of Iron had indeed went to post last week. No biggie, so I missed a race, it ain't the first one.

3rd> Hot two year olds rarely ever perform up to their hot two y/o status as a three year old. Man of Iron losing his first out at two years old will have little to no effect on his 3 year old campaign. He's still a baby at two, just like the rest of them, he has only began to learn. I'm inclined to judge his race at tiny Curragh as a simple little test fire. So he didn't fire. NASA fired a dud or two before they put a rocket into space too. Means nothing as far as I can see. He's still my pick as a top TC contender.

4th> Especially this> I never put any stock in Oklahoma anything, or anything from Oklahoma. Nearly every Oklahoman I've ever met is bred in part with a Jack@SS. Oklahoma what? Home of the great Blue Ribbon Downs and a bunch of hole in the wall "wanna be" casinos? Yeah, that's Oklahoma. Get a New York address.

Dr.SS> I offered objective insight to your question PT.

It would be the mouthy Oklahomans who had no answer to your question, only smart@ss subjectively stated comments that did nothing to promote your thread.

I got a hunerd that says the tiny Oklahoma father/son team can't even define the difference in objective and subjective assessment. Much less do it.

And all of you two's Jabberwocky in this thread has yet to give any answer to PT's question.

First, only one of us is in Oklahoma.

You are full of misinformation. Tiny Curragh? Do you have the slightest clue about racing in Europe?

You try to come off as a know it all, when in fact you seem to know very little. Maybe you are just acting stupid. If so, good show. If not, you won't get it anyway.

Dr. SS> Right off the top of my head, I think The Curragh is somewhere in Ireland. They host a few G1 events (Irish Oaks comes to mind first), and the old world Kings had matched their best stock there since about time began. It's still Europe. Any Europe venue is a longshot compared to New York. Otherwise, The Curragh would sport the Crown Jewel of racing.

Are you still PO'd at us Arkansans for that 1978 Orange Bowl CJ? That'd be the one that the Razorbacks whipped the Sooners 31-6, consequently sweeping the National Championship right out from under the Sooners.

I'm seriously interested in hearing your top of the class early pick for the two year olds that may contend for the Triple Crown CJ. Who may that be?

Howdy Ezra, Do you know that it is a FACT that only one state (Connecticut) has more millionaires per capita than Arkansas? We ain't as dumb as we may sometimes appear. Sam Walton was just another dumb hillbilly too. And my family were all dumb@sses for buying ground floor Wal-Mart stock back about 1973. Right....

Again, more poor information. Not only am I not a fan of OU, as I'm not from here, my son goes to OSU.

As for the Triple Crown, I could not care less at this point in time. I only corrected your post so others wouldn't have false data.

As for European racing being a longshot compared to New York, please. When I don't know much about a topic, I read and try to learn more. More importantly, I keep my mouth shut.

and I am sure the people of Arkansas, felt the same about you. It's always a pleasure to meet Ladies and Gentlemen that love this Sport of Ours.

Unfortunately, sometimes as the old saying goes, You can't make a silk purse from a Swine's ear. But, we hope you will return to Arkansas again and again. We promise to continue trying to refine the process of making silk purses. ;)

Dr. SS> Right off the top of my head, I think The Curragh is somewhere in Ireland.
Indeed it is. County Kildare to be exact.

They host a few G1 events (Irish Oaks comes to mind first), and the old world Kings had matched their best stock there since about time began. It's still Europe.

The Curragh hosts all the Irish Classic races (Irish 1000 & 2000 Guineas, Irish Derby, Irish Oaks and Irish St. Leger). The Tattersalls Gold Cup and many other top races are held there. There's also the small matter of the world's most powerful bloodstock operation fairly nearby, so it sees plenty of new stars.

Any Europe venue is a longshot compared to New York. Otherwise, The Curragh would sport the Crown Jewel of racing.

I would say Longchamp hosts the "Crown Jewel of Racing", the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe but that is just my own thought. I would say however offer the notion that the Irish Derby is regularly the strongest Derby in the world, as it often brings together the principles of both the Epsom and French Derbys, as well as the major Irish horses. Since 1999 the winners of the Irish Derby have won five King George VI's, four Arc de Triomphes, three Irish Champion Stakes and two Breeders Cup Turfs; all major, international all-aged races. And that's not even counting the horses who did not win the race, like subsequent Arc winner Dalakhani.

It augers well versus the Kentucky Derby or Belmont Stakes victors in that time. But chacun son goût.

What, where are you getting that info? Now stats can be manipulated, but a quick check of a couple sites yielded far different results (these are based on households, but its not far off). In 2006 Ar-kansas only had more millionaires per than Kentucky, Miss, and W Virginia (not to slight any).

http://www.netstate.com/states/tables/state_millionaires_household.htm

Here is one from 2007 from Money Mag. I didn't go thru every state (only shows them individually), but its clear R-kansas was no-where near the top.

Just how many mouths hath cj ? The perfectly functional, reasonable one has a twin, a "Dutrow-style mouth ?" Horrors. Can we pass the hat for an orectomy ?

I know when I have the possibly best colt of his generation, I like to keep him in the barn for at least a year or two, rather than removing all doubt.

I would probably opt for "went," but the auxiliary function of "had" makes it, well, perfect. ;) Not trying :2b: :2: tense. :)
