Have a friend who is travelling now in the Far East. Am I wrong that he can't wager on twinspires, etc. because of the time-zone change? He would have to place his wagers 24 hours ahead of time.

OR, is there a way to wager on Japanese and Hong Kong races or any other international races more in his own time-zone?

Sorry, I am completely in the dark on how to tackle international racing.

you can wager from your cell phone in Japan (and I think HK too). Plenty of OTBs in Japan (you don't have to go to the track.

Of course computers also work.

However, for remote betting you probably need a local address. I think you will find the technology over here is really good for betting.

I used YB for three years from Indonesia, 12 hours ahead of US...the only challenge was at midnight to be able to place wagers on races from the "next day"....of course, check the legality of wagering from the country you are wagering from...some countries are less than kind to gamblers.

I used to use Bris to be on the US (probably no technical restriction even today).
